The internet is a dangerous place for unprotected computers. All sorts of attacks can happen if you aren’t protected from viruses to phishing and identity theft. Most computer users have several types of protection in place including antivirus and firewalls.

However, smartphone users often overlook protecting themselves form attacks when online. Trend Micro has announced a new, free app on the iTunes App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch. The app is called the Trend Smart Surfing application and it analyzes websites, email, and file queries in real-time for possible attacks.

When a nefarious website or other item is encountered, it is blocked from access by the iPhone. Features of the app include color-coded search results, three protection levels, and support for multiple web pages at once.
