sanyowpcamcorder-sbSpring is here and before you know it the hot days of summer will be in full force and staying cool in the pool or at the lake and beach will be top priorities. Any outings with family or friends near water mean someone will have a camera or camcorder handy, but most camcorders can’t take even small splashes without going to the big recycling bin in the sky.

Sanyo has announced a new camcorder that records in 720p HD resolution, and can record at depths of up to 10 feet of water for one hour. The video is recorded at 30 fps and the camcorder has a 30x optical zoom. Still shots can be taken with the 2-megapixel still shot feature and sequential shooting at 13 fps is featured.

The LCD of the camera is a 2.5-inch unit for easy filming. The battery in the camcorder is rechargeable and works for 3 hours and 20 minutes straight. Digital image stabilization works for the still camera and camcorder function. Video is stored to SDHC cards in MPEG-4, H.264 formats.

What I would like to know is will this baby hold up to Burning Man abuse? I’m trying to find a good camcorder for the next burn and it must withstand alkaline dust, flames, water, ravers, fuzzy cars and pounding bass. If I do buy this camera I will certainly make a report on that. Ciao.
