That’s not all. There’s also the all new XO Adapter for PS3, which adds support for macros, Rapid Fire and Turbo to any plain old Dual Shock or SIXAXIS controller.

Panasonic announces power saving water heatersPanasonic has announced a batch of 16 heat pump water heaters that will save energy and keep your water temperature constant by using a human presence sensor. The mechanism is able to reduce power consumption by up to 35% in winter, which is when you use the most.

If you’re in Japan, you can get one by July 10. Just don’t expect it to be affordable. The HE-KU37CQS model has a tank capacity and hot water supply pressure of 370L and 280kPa and retails for about $8,211. Seems like a cruel joke, but at that price they are selling you the remote control separately.

Electric Shocking Mouse, for shocking people you don't likeIf you don’t like the people you work with, it may be time for some revenge. Start shocking them. The product never actually says how much of a jolt this will deliver, but they say that it’s “Without harm and hurt, just a surprise”. Then in the next line they say “Just press the key as the usual computer, they will jump and cry!”.

So this gadget will make them jump AND cry for only $5.99. Can’t ask for much more then that. The company also warns that it’s “Not recommended for children under 14 years old, adults over 50 years old, or persons with any medical conditions.”

However, smartphone users often overlook protecting themselves form attacks when online. Trend Micro has announced a new, free app on the iTunes App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch. The app is called the Trend Smart Surfing application and it analyzes websites, email, and file queries in real-time for possible attacks.

apricorndvrexpandernew-sbI love my DVR. I haven’t watched a commercial in over a year and if I had to go back to life without a DVR, I would rather not watch TV. The only problem with my DVR is that it needs more space, but I can’t simply crack it open and put in a bigger drive. This is where products like the Apricorn DVR Expander that debuted back in January come in.

The DVR Expander is an external hard drive designed specifically to work with certain DVR models. Apricorn has updated the DVR expander with a black and silver color scheme that looks better than the original. The device now works with Scientific Atlanta 8300 DVRs, DirecTV DVRs, and Dish Network ViP HD DVR.

Nielsen ranks game console usage for Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on April 8th, 2009

Nielsen ranks game console usage for Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360Nielsen just released their report on console usage. I wish I could say that there were some shocking developments, but it all pans out pretty much how you might think. Almost. The report was conducted in December of 2008, with Nielsen keeping track of the use of the big three consoles.

According to their numbers, Xbox 360 users used their console the most: 11.4 percent of the time during the poll. The PS3 came next at 10.6 percent. The original Xbox came in next with 10.2 percent. while Wii owners gamed a sad 6.8 percent of the time… far less than that of even PS2 owners. What I fond surprising was that the Wii came in last place in total days used during their research. People don’t like hitting others in the nads with a Wiimote all the sudden?

Kenwood Squeezophone 360° speaker delivers sound everywhere

Kenwood Squeezophone 360°I know what you’re thinking. You’ve never seen such a fine specimen of speaker technology merged with Wiffle ball design. I couldn’t agree more. Kenwood’s Squeezophone 360° speaker is similar to the insanely expensive Sony Soutina speakers, pumping music in all directions with acoustic technology.

We don’t know much else because it’s still in the development stages. We feel pretty confident it won’t be cheap. Making things look like Wiffle balls is an expensive business. I applaud their creative genius and their willingness to venture into such uncharted territory.

Customizable car designs

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on April 8th, 2009

Customizable car designsWe customize many things in our lives, whether it’s faceplates for phones or skins for computers. But cars haven’t been all that customizable. At least there’s been no easy way to do it. Sure, in the 80s people were putting bras on their cars. Sickos. And you can see some awesome paint jobs, but those are permanent.

This concept is all about the car’s surface displaying an image. We’re talking your car as a giant display. There would be many templates available for various car models, plus you’ll be able to make some yourself. Your car’s design can be updated wirelessly and even shared on the web. We’ll likely never see it since it would make bank robberies easier for the getaway car.
