Taking apart the Dell AdamoiFixit and TechRepublic have teamed up to give us a peek at the innards of Dell’s new thin and light ultraportable Adamo. They wanted to see how it stacked up against Apple’s MacBook Air, so they compared build quality and specifics.

What did they find? Well, the Adamo features a 11.1 volt 40 Watt hour battery, compared to the Air’s 7.2 volt 37 Watt hour battery, and accounts for a greater percentage of the weight of the computer than the Air. The Adamo looks like it features a lot more technology in an only slightly heavier package.

Steam powered iPod chargerOne day after the robots have had their way with us and the zombies have attacked, you’ll be glad you have your trusty steam powered iPod charger. How else are you going to listen to your tunes, with civilization as you know it destroyed?

The creator attached a Lego Technic Motor to a Jensen #75 steam engine to make this crude generator. Then he built a 5V regulator circuit and soldered in a female USB connection to power any USB device. The end result is a steam powered iPod charger. What does this mean? This guy will be chilling with tunes while you are fending off zombies who want some brain food.

Amazon developing a larger screen Kindle?

Posted in kindle by Conner Flynn on April 11th, 2009

Kindle 2 official images and price leakThe Kindle has been a huge success. With that success, some copycats have emerged. Some of those plan to have a larger screen. So, to keep up, Amazon is planning to develop another Kindle according to the WSJ. Supposedly this comes from people who have seen a version of the device. This one would have “a larger screen”.

The idea is that the bigger screen would make it easier for newspaper companies to easily transition their content to a large form e-reader. No comment from Amazon which is not surprising. What’s surprising is that the report gives the device at least a chance of debuting before the 2009 holiday season.

And if a identity theif gets it, they get everything, because no matter how good that thumbprint reader is, it can be hacked.

Morfojet armchair is not your grandpa’s La-z-boy

Morfojet armchair is not your grandpa's La-z-boyWhy park your afterburners in an ordinary chair when you can sit still and look like you are flying in this thing? In case it wasn’t obvious, designer Gianni Pedone based the Morfojet chair on a pair of jet turbines.

It doesn’t just look sweet, the Morfojet also has a built-in CD player and speakers. It’s so awesome that a pair of aviator goggles should be required just to sit in it. When you’ve got turbines as arm rests, that says power. But why did they not put giant speakers in the turbines? That would have completed it nicely.
