magellanroadmate1470-sb1Magellan is a big name in the GPS industry and offers everything from hand held GPS devices to automotive GPS. GPS is much better than having to dig out an atlas or map to find your way around a city and is even useful if you know the city well thanks to traffic updates.

Magellan announced a new GPS device called the RoadMate 1470 today that features the OneTouch menu. The 1470 has a 4.7-inch LCD that is touch sensitive and includes maps of the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Premium features on the device include an integrated AAA TourBook, Highway lane assist, and spoken street names. The Lane Assist feature helps drivers to be sure they are in the right lane for upcoming turns. SmartDetour is a feature that routes drivers around heavy or stationary traffic. Magellan is offering the 1470 for $299.
