geniushd520-sbWhen I was a kid making home movies required a massive camcorder and a giant VCR that you wore like a purse. It was a lot of work for dad to record the flag football game. Today camcorders are tiny things that you can carry without even noticing they are there and many of them even capture HD resolution video.

Genius has announced its first camcorder called the G-Shot HD520. As the camera name implies it records HD video in 720p resolution in MPEG-4/H.264 format. The little camera weighs less than six ounces and can capture 11-megapixels still shots along with video.

Face Detection is integrated into the camera along with electronic image stabilization. A 2.5-inch LCD lets you see what you are filming and rotates 270-degrees. Video is stored to 32MB of internal memory and capacity can be expanded to 8GB with SDHC memory card support. The camera also has 5x digital zoom and sells for $149.
