AU KDDI iida G9 phone

Posted in Mobile Phones by Conner Flynn on April 7th, 2009

AU KDDI iida G9 phoneIn the market for a fashionable handset that will stand out and is not an iPhone? AU KDDI of Japan has a newly created brand called iida, that is aimed squarely at fashion-conscious users. One of their first handsets is the G9 slider from Sony Ericsson that is actually kinda sexy in a retro way.

Some features include: Built-in 1Seg TV tuner, Stainless steel body with titanium coating, CDMA 1X and GSM network compatible, 3″ touchscreen display at 480 x 854 resolution, 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth connectivity, and GPS navigation support.

As usual, nothing in the way of a price yet, but you can get one this August.

I just bought a G9 (I live in Japan). The keyboard seems a little difficult to get used to after using a flip-phone for a long time. The interface is not much different to previous Sony phones (my previous two phones have been Sony). The best thing, as with all the Sony phones I’ve had is, battery life. I only charge mine once or twice a week depending on usage, of course. It has all the inbuilt gadgetry to keep the geeks happy, but for me, it’s just a phone.
