$99 Blu-ray players hitting this year

Posted in Blu-ray by Conner Flynn on April 21st, 2009

Samsung thinks Blu-Ray will be dead in 5 yearsYou folks who have been putting off the purchase of a new Blu-ray player can finally lay down your money and get a great deal if you hold off just a little while longer. Say, around Christmas. That’s when the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) will make the technology and licensing available to manufacturers in China, which means the usual. Cheap products. Hopefully you pick one that is quality as well as cheap.

Around that time you should see affordable $99 Blu-ray players hitting the market. What’s the poor PS3 gonna do when it isn’t the cheapest Blu-ray player anymore? Shake a tin cup at you as you enter Gamestop? This also means that prices for Blu-ray discs should lower some.

Then Blu-Ray can really take off. Maybe. At least until we are streaming and downloading everything.

There had to be a dig at the PS3 there didn’t there? After all it’s only ever used as a Blu-Ray Ray player isn’t it? Oh no, wait a minute, it’s the best games console out there – not because it’s way better than the 360, because it’s every bit as good as the 360 & yet doesn’t break down if you look at it wrong.
