Gadget cruelty: Put the USB Cow out of its misery

Posted in USB by Conner Flynn on March 5th, 2009

Gadget cruelty: Put the USB Cow out of its miseryWhat the #%$$@ was the manufacturer thinking? There is no scenario in which this USB hub is even remotely normal on your desk. I guess if you like to torture cows by sticking flash drives in them, you might take a shine to it, but mostly it’s just wrong.

I guess it could have been worse. The cow could be standing and have a bunch of flash drives as udders. Maybe you have to coax them in so it looks like you’re milking the beast. Damn. I think I just gave them another idea. Seriously old Bessie here looks like she’s begging for a bullet to put her out of her misery. Poor thing.

Amazon’s new video game trade-in program outdoes Gamestop

Amazon’s new video game trade-in program outdoes GamestopIf you’re like me, you don’t like spending $50 on a game only to beat it in a few hours and have it sit on the shelf forever. That’s why I resell games or trade them in, so you can get more for your money. Sadly Gamestop’s trade in prices often suck. Well, good news.

According to Webware, Amazon will now buy back used games for more money than Gamestop. Amazon launched the service today, and they currently accept over 1500 titles across platforms. Webware compared some of the bigger, recent releases, and it looks like Amazon offers $2-$3 more for games on average. Shipping is even free. Thanks Amazon. Thank you for caring about my wallet.

Vaino: A Vaio P knock off

Posted in Notebooks by Conner Flynn on March 4th, 2009

Vaino: A Vaio P knock offThe Sony Vaio P just came out and already it has sprouted a clone, the Vaino. At first glance, the Vaino seems to have better specs in certain areas, including a 10.2″ display, a faster Atom processor, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a 1.3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi connectivity and a multi-format memory card reader.

But what it comes down to is that no one wants to be carrying around such an obvious knock off. It ruins your tech cred. They should have just released the device under it’s own brand. One day maybe they will learn.
