USB retro robot flash drive

Posted in USB by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2009

USB retro robot flash driveI’ve said it before. We need more robot flash drives. It’s hard to find a cool robot flash drive. Some are too shiny, others, like the Ultraman are cool, but not robot enough.

This flash drive is all classic robot. The USB Robot comes in a small 1GB capacity, in green, black, and blue. Just yank his head off and plug him into your computer. When you transfer files, his little eyes light up!

Alien Abduction lamp

Alien Abduction lampThere are few things cooler or more awesome than seeing a cow being lifted into a flying saucer. Though the cow may disagree. Haven’t witnessed this with your own eyes in the night sky? Here’s the next best thing.

The antenna on top is the on/off switch. It comes in a plain version with just the saucer and light ray and you can also get the more humorous cow abducting edition. The Alien Abduction Lamp is in the functional prototype stage and not yet available, sadly. Hopefully soon as I know the creator has been at it for some time.

Xbox 360 Elite to get the axe

Xbox 360 Elite to get the axeThe latest rumors suggest that Microsoft is considering putting the Xbox 360 Elite on the back-burner, while they take no more orders and allow stocks to dwindle. That way the Elite could be treated as a limited-availability option, on sale on at select European and US retailers. It is believed that retailers prefer only two SKUs, low-end and high-end.

Any remaining Elites on sale would more likely be special editions, like the red Resident Evil 5 package announced last month. Elite packages take longer to sell than the Arcade or Pro 360s, so this is what they want.

Ulysse Nardin hybrid smart phone

Posted in Mobile Phones by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2009

Ulysse Nardin hybrid smart phoneUlysse Nardin’s upcoming Chairman will be officially unveiled at Baselworld later this month. It’s billed as a “hybrid smart phone” and before you ask, no you can’t afford it. It will feature a visible, fully-functional kinetic rotor that will assist it in getting power, just like in a mechanical wristwatch.

There are not a ton of details, but we know that it’ll be unlocked and limited to 1,846 pieces. Full details should arrive around March 26 when Baselworld kicks off. You can use that time to save up, steal, sell all of your possessions, and still fall short of it’s asking price.

You-SB body implant for hardcore transfers

You-SB body implant for hardcore transfersAlways losing your flash drives? Like body modifications a little too much? It’s all a question of how important your data is. Forget what you saw in the Star Wars prequels. This is how Anakin started to go bad.

It starts with a simple USB finger and before you know it your entire hand is a mass of ports, some inputs, some outputs. Then the standard changes and you have to sacrifice the other hand. Where does it end? Probably with a scrollwheel on your nads. This is purely a “visualization” project, but you know it will happen.

Mag-Lite Flashlight could end up in your kids nose

Posted in Flashlights by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2009

Mag-Lite Flashlight could end up in kids noseKids love to stick stuff in their noses. (They also like to dig deep and pick stuff out, but that’s another story.) The little tykes will stick toys up their nostrils, candy, their finger, you name it. In fact, if there’s nothing nearby to actually stick up their nose, they often go into withdrawal, constantly sniffing and touching their nose while snorting, like a junkie checking themselves for powder on the outside.

Well, Mag-Lite is exploiting the phenomena in their latest ad campaign. Making “light” of it even. Maglite is launching their smallest flashlight yet named Solitaire, with these images of kids who breath light out of their nostrils.

Playstation controller fossils coming to a future near you

Playstation controller fossils coming to a future near youOne day, hopefully when the planet is not ruled by apes that evolved from men, fossils like the one above will be commonplace. And while you might not dig up as many Zune fossils as say, the iPod, they will give those in the future some idea of what we have been up to.

These fossils are hand-made in Austin by artist Christopher Locke. Each one represents a different piece of “modern” technology that has already become extinct. He has also collaborated with the local Goodwill computer and electronics recycling program, insuring that there is zero e-waste from this project.

Stitch takes a bite out of an LCD Display

Stitch takes a bite out of an LCD DisplayNothing too cutting edge here, but if you have an unhealthy love of Disney characters and already own the Stitch humidifier, you might consider this Stitch LCD Display.

It’s a 20-incher that features 1680 x 1050 pixels, HDMI, D4, and even a B-CAS card reader. While stitch may be taking a huge bite, he hasn’t taken a bite out of the price, which is around €800. The mouth even opens up and it features stitch’s body clinging to the rear.

Corsair Flash Voyager Port

Posted in USB Flash Drives by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2009

Corsair Flash Voyager PortThe Corsair Flash Voyager Port will work with just about any USB drive. Pushing the button will launch a software backup, transferring pre-determined data over to the docked USB flash drive. What this does is make any decent sized USB flash drive into the perfect backup drive.

Corsair wants you tp use their 64GB drive obviously. Nice device that is actually useful and provides some flexibility and freedom. Just keep track of your flash drives if you are using several. No word on availability, but the Corsair Flash Voyager Port should be available in a few weeks for under $20.

Zivix Headliner Guitar for Rock Band/Guitar Hero

Posted in Musical Instruments by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2009

Zivix Headliner Guitar for Rock Band/Guitar HeroThe problem with Guitar Hero and Rock Band is that people think they can actually play guitar. By people, I mean you. The Zivix Headliner is a real guitar that works with both games using special fingertip sensors. What this means for you?

Well, if you use this you may actually learn to play the guitar for real. Seriously, it has strings and everything, because you’re a big boy now. There’s no official release date for the Headliner yet, but they hope to have the guitar on store shelves sometime later this year.

Level 10: The inside-out PC case

Level 10: The inside-out PC caseThis awesome looking PC case appears to be from a distant future. Thermaltake and BMW have teamed up to create the “Level 10” PC case, which is on display at the CeBIT conference in Hanover, Germany. All of the components are outside the case yet inside their own compartments.

Visually, it’s great. Would the cables be running everywhere or would those be hidden as well? There isn’t very much info on this thing so we aren’t sure if it will actually be for sale, for how much or when. All we know is that they would be crazy to not sell something so beautiful.
