Redesigned iPod shuffle hits 4GB, talksApple just doubled the capacity of the iPod shuffle to 4GB, but that’s not all. They’ve completely ditched the control wheel. The clip stays, but they’ve added VoiceOver, a new feature that tells you which song is playing and who performs it at the touch of a button on the earbud cable.

Great, now I’ve got Stephen Hawking palling around with me. It will also call out your playlists and let you navigate to others. The device is available in black or silver for $80. VoiceOver is available in English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. Check out the video tutorial below.

Posted in Hitachi by Shane McGlaun on March 11th, 2009

hitachilcd-sbThere is nothing that makes most consumers angrier than having to pay more for something than it is worth. A few years ago several of the world’s largest LCD panel makers conspired together to fix the price of TFT-LCD panels and sold the panels at inflated prices to computer makers.

So far several companies have been fined, including LG and Chunghwa Picture Tubes. Today the U.S. DOJ has announced that Hitachi has agreed to plead guilty and pay a fine of $31 million for its part in the LCD price fixing conspiracy.

drivingactivityreporter-sbWhen it comes to kooky and often overpriced gadgets, Hammacher Schlemmer is the place you want to shop. These are the same fine folks that bought worthwhile gadgets like the snowball blaster and the clear canoe.

The company’s latest product is one that lets you spy on the driving habits of your spouse, kids or employees. The Driving Activity Reporter is a small device that looks like a flash drive with a magnet on the back of the case. The magnet holds the device to the undercarriage of a car, under the seat or in any other metal location.

Disney Interactive announces Split/Second video game

splitsecond-sbWhen you say the name Disney I automatically think of pirates, kid’s movies, and animated mice. When Disney Interactive studios put out the quad racing game Pure last year I didn’t think much about it until I saw the game and realized how fantastic it was graphically.

Disney Interactive has announced a new video game coming in 2010 called Split/Second that it hopes will draw as much attention as Pure did. Honestly, Split/Second sounds like a much more interesting premise than Pure had. The game will be available for the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3.

Cool Halo Xbox 360 dioramaWe love Halo around these parts, so when we spotted this awesome Halo-themed Xbox 360 diorama with matching case, we had to share. It’s the work of a man named Max who was obviously working through his own Halo obsession through the project.

If you have a close look at all the pics, there’s a ton of detail. So it’s not surprise that it took two months to build in his spare time. Us, we would have just used that spare time to get our game on. Awesome work.

HyundaiWhat do you do when people are no longer buying cars due to the economy being in the toilet? You get the hell out, that’s what. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll make something that people are still buying. Like phones and watches. If you’re Hyundai you offer both in one package.

The MB-910 timepiece is actually a tri-band GSM/GPRS mobile phone with around three hours of talk time, 70 hours on standby and polyphonic ringtones. No video calls sadly, but it does have a 132 x 176 touchscreen able to display WAP-captured content, SMS and MMS messages, and videos.
