That Lenovo netbook we showed you this morning? Sadly, not a real product.

Apparently it’s a concept that is at least two years old. Following the earlier leak, the company decided to show more formal shots. Ah, who needs a pocket Lenovo anyway, when all of their other offerings look just as polished and svelt?

A bunch of news broke over the weekend regarding the proprietary headphones required by Apple’s new iPod shuffle. Now that it’s Monday some of the info is cleared up and we can let you in on it. Both Macworld and Boing Boing Gadgets have now confirmed with Apple and third-party vendors that the new shuffle headphones contain a proprietary control chip. And that headphone makers have to pay to license it from Apple.

It’s bad news for sure, but apparently the chip isn’t encrypted, so it’s easily cloned by companies who don’t want to play that game. But those products would be pretty doomed in the marketplace.

Are your walls paper thin? Driving the family crazy with your voice? Is your singing voice causing your pets to moan and drop dead? No worries. This microphone peripheral named “Urusakunai Kara OK!” (Not Noisy Kara OK!) lets Wii owners sing their hearts out in Hudson’s Karaoke JOYSOUND Wii game.

The Wii is known for weird peripherals, but this may be the strangest yet. You may be singing into it, but it looks like you are getting gassed at the dentist’s office in the 60′s.

Kogan’s Android smartphone might be put on hold indefinitely, but that doesn’t mean the Australian company doesn’t have some other stuff in their Kangaroo pouches. Meet the Kogan GPS Watch which is touted as “the most feature packed watch on the market”. It merges Bluetooth, GPS navigation, a pedometer and altimeter timepiece among other features in a single device.

If you’re the MacGuyver type who plans on a lot of outdoor adventures, then this GPS watch is for you. It will record the exercise you are getting while plotting your route using Google Earth. Also features a built-in thermometer and speedometer, alarm, stopwatch and timer.

You might have heard. What with the whacked economy and all, Hyundai is not only making cars, but cell phones as well.

To refresh, the MB-910 timepiece is a tri-band GSM/GPRS mobile phone with around three hours of talk time, 70 hours on standby and polyphonic ringtones. No video calls, but it does have a 132 x 176 touchscreen able to display WAP-captured content, SMS and MMS messages, and videos.

Remember that weird Lenovo netbook thing that resembles the Vaio P? Well Lenovo has confirmed the existence of its mystery netbook by posting teaser images on its photo feed. It’s now called the Pocket Yoga and has both the ultra-wide, VAIO P-like display and a leather-bound shell.

Concept sketches show the PC not only supporting a touchscreen for a stylus but a convertible design that would let the display flip backwards to use it as a very small tablet too. We still don’t have any specifications, though its size would suggest an Intel Atom or similar chip. It probbly has a built-in webcam and a trackpoint-like controller to back up the touch display.

There are several different form factors available in the notebook/laptop world. Most of the computers we see are traditional style notebooks with a keyboard and an LCD. However, some models offer swiveling screens and the capability to be used like a tablet with pen-based or finger input.

There are also pure tablet machines that offer no keyboard. Motion Computing has announced its latest pure tablet computer called the J3400. The machine has an interesting dual battery slot design allowing batteries to be hot swapped for continuous runtime.

The rugged laptop is a strange beast that forsakes some of the portability of a normal laptop to allow the rugged system to be used in environments where a standard laptop would not be able to operate. Dell recently introduced a new rugged laptop called the E6400 and last year unveiled the rugged D630 that met many military specifications.

Today GD Itronix has announced its own rugged laptop called the GD8000. The machine can be had in a 13.3-inch version that meets military specifications and offers capacitive touch technology in the screen. The manufacturer claims that the machine can withstand 30 gallons of water blown at 40 mph without failing and well as vibrations caused by a helicopter.

Averatec offers a full line of all-in-one computers that stuff all the goodies a modern PC needs inside the display like the iMac line. Averatec is mostly known as a maker of cheap laptops, but its all-in-one line is interesting and the latest addition offers the ability to stream HD video.

Averatec calls the new model the D1133 AIO and it features an 18.4-inch LCD with a resolution of 1680 x 945. Storage for the computer is to a 250GB HDD and it has 2GB of DDR2 RAM along with an 8x SuperMulti DVD burner.

Boston-Power isn’t really a household name at this point, but the company has some very cool battery tech that promises to make the battery in your laptop work for three times as long before you need to get a new battery. The average laptop battery starts to storage capacity in only a year, yet the Boston-Power Sonata battery promises to last for 3 years with full charge capacity.

I mentioned in December 2008 that HP would be the first computer maker to offer the Sonata batteries for sale. At the time, HP didn’t offer any pricing information for the upgraded battery packs.

Teac has announced its first HD radio device, in the form of the TEAC HD-1. The iPod docking system comes equipped with HD Radio technology for a superior audio experience and compelling new content through HD Radio programming.

You can use the TEAC HD-1 with your iTunes collection via its iTunes Tagging capability. Some other features include a remote control, dual alarm clock with snooze button, five equalizer presets, and an iPod/iPhone charger. You can purchase the Teac HD-1 HD Radio at select Costco stores around the US for $129.99 each.

The last time we saw this much circuit board on the outside of a mod, it was my very own Atari-Hero guitar mod. So right away this caught my attention.

Modder Frenkie designed this glow-in-the-dark case mod that features strips of circuit board to give it the scorpion-inspired look. Dubbed Sting, the case features a custom cut PCB boards pattern all over the body. It looks deadly. If you’re going to build something, make it stand out and have a life of its own. Make it look like it can sting the hell out of you.

Why be bored at work, when you can build your own version of Mario Kart? Made using bits and pieces that you have around your desk already. Donald Kenny created this awesome little Mario sculpture. It’s right up there with the Starship Enterprise built from office supplies.

It’s made using coins, binder clips, wire, and other found office supplies. Have your buddies build some others, like Bowser, Koopa and Toad. Plus create some small turtle shells and bananas and soon you will be racing in the break room.

This is a pretty cool and original MacBook mod. Macmods member EdsJunk has put a full-function color LCD inside the Apple logo and hooked it up as a secondary display. There aren’t many details, so we don’t know exactly how he did it, what kind of screen was used or what it cost him.

We do know that it is awesome. He has put it up on ebay where it is currently at $2,025.00 with 8 days to go. So you still have some time to get some money together. Where the final price will be is anybody’s guess.

We could probably all stand to get a little greener in our everyday lives. Portable and compact solar panels like these make it pretty easy, since large panels are expensive and not suited for the home. These are especially great for apartment dwellers looking to get greener.

Veranda Solar is working on these solar panels that would sunbath outside of apartment windows, gathering rays that will power your stuff inside. No word yet on how much power you can expect to get from them, but the price is estimated to be from $400 to $600.
