Shark Tea Infuser makes tea time look tragic

Shark Tea Infuser makes tea time look tragicThis shark tea infuser makes it look like somebody just got chomped by a great white as it colors the water your favorite blood-colored tea. You may be tempted to stick your finger in and tempt fate, but don’t take the chance.

It’s a concept, but one that will likely be realized, what with the popularity of Shark fin ice cubes in cold drinks. Do people really love a Shark fin in their drink? Apparently so. Earl Grey never looked so dangerous.

Canton is adding three new loudspeakers to its flagship line of Reference speakers. These new models, the Reference 5.2, 7.2 and 9.2, price for around $10,000, $7,000 and $4,000 per pair, respectively.

The Reference 5.2 and Reference 7.2 are three-way floor standing loudspeakers, and the Reference 9.2 is a two-way monitor speaker designed for pedestal mounting. This offers “a smaller dome radius and significant improvements in power handling and distortion characteristics.”

Mio DigiWalker ad: There’s always a way out

Enjoy this commercial, which should have been a Superbowl commercial by the way. Just don’t ask us to explain what goes on in the minds of advertising executives. I guess it could be considered a tad NSFW due to butt cheeks. I’m not sure this will sell many extra GPS devices for the company, but it is an entertaining 42 seconds. Not sure what else I could possibly say about it…

Has this ever happened to anyone? And if so, did you hear that popping sound?

This just in: Ice Invaders attack drinksYou’re a geek and so are we. So we understand. Sometimes you just can’t keep all that love for Space Invaders to yourself. You have to slip it in her drink like a nerd roofie, hoping that it will pique her interest. Maybe she’ll ask what it is. You can explain and in the process make her a nerd too. Maybe you’ll play the classic game together.

Not very likely. She’ll probably just tell you to keep your dork ice in that Shirley Temple you’re sipping. Hey, you tried. Ice Invaders is a silicone tray that will make Space Invaders ice or let you bake your own aliens. It will be available this spring. Pretend your going pew pew pew as they melt in your girlly drink.

New iPhone in June?

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on February 3rd, 2009

New iPhone in June?If you’re on the lookout for the next iPhone, Apple is in the habit of refreshing the iPod and iPhone on a somewhat regular schedule. Therefore a new iPhone arriving in June wouldn’t be a surprise. Business 24/7 mentions a brand new iPhone in June.

As usual, take it for the rumor that it is. It could be a mistake, or a misquote, or even a conspiracy to throw us off, but it’s interesting. We’ll just have to wait and see. Meanwhile, over at Apple Insider there is mention of an upcoming iPhone with an architecture overhaul. iPhone nano anyone?

Pantech’s blow-controlled Sky Wind

Posted in Pantech by Conner Flynn on February 2nd, 2009

Pantech’s blow-controlled Sky WindPantech’s latest creation, the Sky Wind, features blow-controls. What this means is that you can huff and puff and interact with your phone. The handset will run on the Emotion Engine developed by Fantalog Interactive. Blow controls include the ability to switch wallpapers, adjust the brightness level and even take a photo.

Hell, you can probably literally blow somebody off if you get a call you don’t want. Obviously this is pretty much a novelty. I mean it can’t be nearly as useful as the iPhone’s accelerometer for instance. The Pantech Sky Wind will be available this February. No word on price yet, but we think it blows.

Timex Expedition WS4 watch

Timex Expedition WS4 watchThe Timex Expedition WS4 looks pretty ordinary, but it isn’t. Some of it’s features include an altimeter, barometer, thermometer, chronograph, alarm and compass. This isn’t some slim sissy watch for a nerd wrist. This one’s for real men. Rugged type dudes. Adventurers.

Being a Timex watch, the WS4 will take a licking and keep on ticking. It’s also water resistant up to 50 meters and comes with a rubber strap which can be mounted to a fabric strap, so you can wear on the outside of your heavy gear should the need arise.

Cloaca No. 5: The machine that drops a deuce

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on February 2nd, 2009

Cloaca No. 5: The machine that drops a deuceCloaca No. 5 is very similar to Chanel No. 5, the perfume. One smells like crap, the other is a machine that actually dumps on command. It’s a “mechanized sculpture” that reproduces the human digestive system in every detail. The end result is just like you and me, the machine produces feces, only when it pinches a loaf it comes out vacuum-packed.

Yeah, a machine that poos. There’s another thing a robot does better then humans. It’s part of an exhibition that’s open until valentine’s day in the universite du quebec’s art, Montreal. Cloaca is made of steel, rubber and glass and is fed twice a day with cafeteria leftovers.

Sony mofiria secures devices with vein recognition

Posted in Sony by Conner Flynn on February 2nd, 2009

Sony mofiria secures devices with vein recognitionThere are many biometric devices on the market, but honestly we haven’t seen any of them really hit it big with the masses. Sony is probably hoping to change that with their just announced Mofiria, a high speed, compact biometric solution for mobile devices.

Just like Fujitsu’s PalmSecure, it uses near infrared LEDs and a CMOS sensor to take a picture of your veins. News to me, but apparently vein patterns vary enough from person to person and don’t change through life. So they are a perfect thing to use for authentication. And perfect for Sony to make an extra buck with.

Accenda iPod Voice Controller

Accenda iPod Voice ControllerThe iPod’s Click Wheel is great and all, but like most gadgets, it’s really no fun to use when it’s cold outside. Accenda has a solution for your cold fingers with the iPod voice controller. Just connect it to the iPod’s dock connector and use your voice to control your iPod.

You can vocally do everything, like skipping tracks to adjusting volume without pushing any buttons. It works with almost any English-speaking user and can even be trained to work with those who have strong accents or different languages.

Orb Audio TOSS

Speaker systems manufactuer Orb Audio today added some new high grade speaker floor stands to its line up. The new TOSS model runs for around $220 a pair.

The Orb Audio TOSS (Tubes of Sculpted Steel) floor stands are handcrafted and consist of a diamond-shaped steel tube which is combined with a gentle curve for a nicer look.
