BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 from VerizonIf you’re a fan of Verizon you’ll be happy to know that the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 will be with the carrier soon. It’s the first clamshell BlackBerry, so it looks a little strange, but it’s a good solid phone that’s been available for a few months from other carriers.

We don’t have any word on pricing and availability. We do know that silver will be among the color choices. The release date should be very soon since test units have gone out.

T-Mobile gets green W233 Renew handset

Moto W233 RenewMobile phones and other electronics devices are the subject of recycling efforts all around the country. The goal is to keep the devices and their batteries out of landfills. Some companies out there recycle the internal components from discarded electronics to build new products or simply for the raw materials.

T-Mobile has the first handset that is actually made from recycled materials itself. The plastic case of the Moto W233 Renew is made from recycled water bottles. The packaging that the phone ships in uses 22% less material than other handsets and all of the packing materials are made from recycled materials as well.

From the maker of the Hemp-Mote: Mini-Mote and Nunchuk

From the maker of the Hemp-Mote: Mini-Mote and NunchukI’m sure you remember Dhreck’s Hemp-mote. The Wii-mote wrapped in hemp? Dhreck is obviously a madman. I mean, why? Why hemp? Why a mini-mote and nunchuk? Got me.

Dhreck has been a busy boy, modding a normal Wiimote and Nunchuk in a minimal size. For some reason. Maybe he has small hands. If you too have small hands and some extra time, he has a detailed tutorial on how you can make your own. I have to admit, the finished product looks kinda cool.

Left over beer fuels cars

Left over beer fuels carsBeer fueling cars? Cars now competing for beer that you should be guzzling? Yep. And your car won’t get a beer gut or wake up next to Quasimodo the next morning. Don’t sweat it though, we’re talking leftovers. Sierra Nevada has purchased a MicroFueler, which produces ethanol from water, sugar and yeast. As you probably know from Beer 101, yeast is a major byproduct of beer fermentation. So they can now make fuel out of beer leftovers.

It’s a great Earth friendly way to recycle waste. And it’s nice to see a company being responsible and doing something good. Plus their cars get to drink beer. How cool is that? Your job doesn’t put beer in your car.

The mousetrap coffee table

Posted in Furniture by Conner Flynn on February 3rd, 2009

mousetrap coffee tableHere’s one concept that we hope remains in concept-land forever. The Mousetrap Table is a table with a hole in one of it’s legs. The idea is that when a mouse ventures inside, a sensor shuts a door behind him. Then the little guy is forced into the compartment in the center. Once there, the mouse will be consumed by a microbial fuel cell, which generates energy to help trap the next victim in a vicious cycle.

Why you would want a dead mouse on display where you eat is anybody’s guess. And any company you invite over will not stay long, I guarantee it. Anyway, wouldn’t it exude an ungodly death smell into your environment? Vincent Price should be the pitchman for this morbid little furnishing of death.

iPhone 4G concept puts a Macbook in a phone

iPhone 4G concept puts a Macbook in a phoneSome concepts are so pie in the sky out there all you can do is shake your head, while others are downright realistic. We’ll leave it up to you to figure out which category this one falls into. I think we can all agree that we’d love to see this one happen asap.

Some specs include: Titanium and Glass, OLED screen, 3G, GPS, Front camera for iChat, Removable battery, 3.2 Megapixel camera, Video, 32 GB. As long as we’re talking fantasy here, why not a projector or at least a slide out extender that enlarges the screen.

AT&T to offer the LG Neon

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on February 3rd, 2009

AT&T to offer LG NeonThe LG Neon probably looks familiar, that’s because it’s been released before as the LG KS360. They’re both pretty identical, with a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.4″ touchscreen display and other functions. Your only bonus here is the added AT&T logo on the front.

The LG Neon is targeted at youth whose only communications with others are through texting. No word yet on pricing and availability yet, but we should know soon should you be itching to text with this thing.

Acer DX900: A rebranded E-Ten handsetIt’s unclear if Acer’s upcoming DX900 smartphone that is actually a rebranded E-Ten Glofiish DX900, is Acer’s much hyped new smartphone. The company is likely still keeping most of their newly developed items under wraps. But if this is the phone they were talking about, then color us disappointed.

All the innards are unchanged: Dual SIM support, GPS navigation, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 3 megapixel camera and a 2.8″ VGA touchscreen display, all powered by Windows Mobile 6.1.

Zombies take over Best Buy for Resident Evil 5 Launch

Zombies take over Best Buy for Resident Evil 5 LaunchMidnight releases of video games are getting old. So Best Buy is looking to do something a bit different when it comes to launching Resident Evil 5. They will be treating it more like a Hollywood premiere event and we may see more of this in the future. How does a store full of zombies and a chainsaw-wielding Dr. Salvador sound?

It will all happen on March 13, at the Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania Best Buy, where they will convert part of their store into a haunted house. Employees will become zombies, their bank of televisions all set to eerie no-signal snow. There will even be even be at least one dude in a potato-sack mask with a chainsaw.
