Upgrade your 5G iPod video with 240GB of storage

Posted in Apple by Shane McGlaun on February 6th, 2009

Toshiba iPod HDD UpgradeFor many iPod owners the only reason to upgrade to a new device is when you start running out of storage space. Rather than delete video or other content form the device, many simply upgrade. The problem is that you may not be able to upgrade to an iPod with more storage if you are already using one of the highest capacity devices.

A company called Rapid Repair is offering an upgrade for the 5G iPod video from the 120GB HDD to a 240GB Toshiba hard drive. The Toshiba drive offers enough space for 300 hours of video or 60,000 songs. That is a lot of content.

Lightware LED Silverware

LED SilverwarePerfect for those romantic candelit dinners, it’s Lightware- the LED lit cutlery. This silverware features a silver head and an engraved crystal body, sure to add to the ambience of any darkly lit dining experience.

They have a small LED powered by a watch battery at the bottom. The electronic part can be removed for washing, because otherwise things would just get gross. Your fork will still stab, but now you will be able to see what you are stabbing. If these don’t impress your date, try the Lego cutlery. At least with those you can join her fork to yours and say something sappy.

Colorful Wii Nunchuks are Wii FunChuks

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on February 5th, 2009

Colorful Wii Nunchuks are Wii FunChuksPeripheral manufacturer Logic3 wanted to copy the Wii’s Nunchuk and in order to avoid lawsuits, they gave it the clever name of FunChuks. They are essentially miniature, brightly colored Wii nunchuks that somewhat resemble vegetables.

They’ll cost you $20 each and are a fairly straightforward Wii nunchuk replacement, except for the extra “C” button that they threw on them hoping to stymie lawyers. They also look like they will explode and create a Jackson Pollack masterpiece on your floor.

ITOI children’s interactive toilet concept will scare the poop out of them

Posted in Humor by Conner Flynn on February 5th, 2009

Literally. When I first saw this, my brain was like wtf? but it’s actually brilliant. By scaring the poop and pee out of the child, it teaches them how to use the potty quicker. I’m not so sure about the whole, “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands” thing. Or the gloved hand. Or the moving TP roll.

Actually this thing here is pretty messed up. A literal crap gadget. I’m kinda scared about the fact that there’s a roll of duct tape lying nearby as well.

PSP hits Europe with trio of new colors

PSP hits Europe with trio of new colorsTimes are tough and Sony knows that if it wants to sell PSPs(Believe me they want to sell some badly) they had better try some new tricks to entice buyers. And what could make the consumer want you more? Sony thinks that it’s all in the colors.

Sony is releasing the European PSP in three new colors to compliment the Carnival Colors we covered just a week ago. You’ll be able to get your PSP in Radiant Red, Mystic Silver and Pearl White. They might be trying a little too hard. Those color names sound like stripper names for Eighty-year-olds. In fact, I’m pretty sure Pearl White starred on The Golden Girls.

Eee PC 701 prototype UMPC spottedLooks like we will be getting an Eee-branded UMPC at some future date. It almost has to come to pass, what with these drool-worthy pics of an Eee PC 701 prototype, inspired by the original Origami R2H device found on Mobile1.

It does away with the keyboard and loses some weight, at just 1.68 pounds and even comes with a stylus. Sadly there’s no word yet on any release date. It may or may not ever make it into production, but it sure looks awesome and we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Tripod iPod speaker

Posted in Speakers by Conner Flynn on February 5th, 2009

Tripod iPod speakerWe’ve covered our share of cheap crap gadgets ’round these parts, but sometimes what looks like a cheap gadget can surprise you. Like this Tripod MP3 speaker for instance. Yeah, iPod/MP3 speakers are a dime a dozen, but they aren’t all created equal. I picked up one of these Tripod speakers because although my laptop has great sound, it could be louder, so I figured I would take a chance on this one.

The design is cool because it pumps the music in three directions. And as far as loudness, it doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it’s surprisingly loud and I haven’t had any sound problems at all, like crackling etc. Just attach your MP3 player via the headphone jack, plug it into your USB port and you’re good to go.

BlackBerry meets the Optimus Keyboard

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on February 5th, 2009

BlackBerry meets the Optimus KeyboardThis interesting concept comes from designer Billy May. The OLED Blackberry is a combination of a Blackberry 7130 and an Optimus Keyboard. This OLED Blackberry was designed for the Mozilla Phone project, and obviously it takes the best of both devices and creates this stunning concept seen above.

The OLED keys, just like on the Optimus Keyboard can be programmed and change their look. It looks stunning and the minute you see it, you realize that you are looking at a device that has some actual richness of personality and could provide a richer experience.
