Doing chores sucks. Ironing is probably one of the worst chores. But no one likes a wrinkly shirt. This iron should make it a little more bearable. In these troubled times, you don’t want a super expensive phone with all the bells and whistles… Okay, you do, but for a moment let’s just pretend. The Disposable Pre-Paid Phone concept is one of the most basic handsets you could hope to find. The idea is that it would be affordable enough for anyone to purchase for use in an emergency situation.

Which makes sense. You would want a portable phone you can wear it around your wrist, for Dick Tracy type emergencies. How billing would work is anybody’s guess. But it looks great in Wii-white. No alphanumeric keypad here, which is lame. Sometimes in an emergency, sending text messages is a good idea.

The Ibiza Theatre is the first touchscreen player from the company that offers a cheaper alternative to Apple’s gadget line, but it surprisingly lacks Wi-Fi. Some features of the Ibiza Theatre include: 2.4″ 320 x 240 resolution display, Bluetooth, Integrated FM tuner, microSD memory card slot, Support for Real’s Rhapsody to Go service, Audible, MP3 and WMA audio support, and AVI and MPEG-4 video support.

Haier promises a 30-hour battery life, and we’re guessing that applies to audio playback and not video. The Ibiza Theatre should be shipping this spring in 8GB and 16GB flavors. They will retail for $110 and $130.

If you have been talking to your remote lately, you’ve probably noticed that it doesn’t listen to you. Which is annoying. The Amulet Remote is like a girlfriend/bartender/therapist in that it will actually listen to your non-stop drivel and won’t judge you for the maniac you undoubtedly are.

It was designed specifically for Vista Media Center but is probably adaptable to other setups. It’s essentially a voice-activated controller that lets users record a series, watch a recorded show, skip to a new playlist or queue up a photo slideshow just by talking to it. The built-in microphone is there for you in good times and bad. During the good times you’ll talk sweet to it. During the bad you’ll yell at that $%@# and tell it that it better record your show or else. Check out a video below.

Italy’s Olidata has announced it’s new Conte ultraportable, which targets 13.3-inch ultra-thin laptops. It looks like this one will be available in two different versions: One with a 16:10, 1280×800 display, and one with a 16:9, 1366×768 display. Each will come equipped with a small Core 2 Duo processor, optional built-in 3G or WiMAX, and a battery life that promises more than four hours (seven with an extended battery).

The 16:10 model will also give you some bonuses like Intel Turbo Memory, fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard, and 3GB of RAM standard. There’s no word on a release here in the states, but both models will be hitting Europe in May for under $1,300.

Last week we told you about some of WowWee’s new products. Much to our surprise that included non-robot items. Like these Cinemin mini-projectors.

They’re all designed to support your iPod or iPhone. The projector product line includes the Cinemin Swivel for $299, which features an adjustable 90-degree hinge for ceiling projection, the Cinemin Stick for handheld projections, for $349, and the Cinemin Station at $399, a base station of sorts that allows you to dock your iPod/iPhone and features embedded speakers. This entire line of projectors connect to all the iPods and most laptops.

Some new Pioneer receivers were caught talking at CES 2009 about how they want to hook-up with iPods and how they require Apple’s standard USB data cable to do so. The VSX series receivers won’t kill you in the wallet too badly, and they have features that I’m sure you will want, including out-of-the-box compatibility with iPods.

Just hook up your iPod or iPhone to the USB jack in front of the receiver and you’re ready. All you need to do is kick back, listen and check out the album art. The receiver remote also offers full control of your iPod, but surprisingly,(This may hurt sales) there’s no support for playing video off your iPod except for the VSX-919 and VSX-1019AH, the two models on the high end of the budget-minded VSX line.

It had to happen and I’m surprised it took this long. Someone had to clone the Wiimote. That someone is Nyko. According to Mark Wilson of Gizmodo, who had a chance to play with it at CES, the device is pretty impressive, with no tangible difference aside from the red, white and blue color scheme.

The quality and response seems dead on. But aside from one-upping the Wiimote on good looks, “the Wand” has one advantage. Nyko is using it as the basis for their new Trans-Port peripheral technology. Where most Wii peripherals like the Zapper use mechanical contacts to link a trigger to an actual button on the Wiimote, Nyko makes this connection digitally.

JVC was feeling nostalgic, so it has upgraded that most classic of urban audio fixtures, the boombox. Make no mistake, this ain’t your grandaddy’s boombox. This is a boombox for the 21st century. How do I know this? Because it boasts an iPod dock and touchscreen of course.

Even the way that you wake the device from standby mode is futuristic. You wake it up from standby mode by waving a hand in front of the system, which illuminates all of the controls and the LED display. That’s not all, there’s a bunch of gestures and motions you can apply to the touchscreen to do stuff like control the sound.

We’ve covered our share of Wii guns here at the brick. Machine guns, Pistols, even the Wiimote assassination kit, but I believe this is the first rifle that is actually three weapons in one.

The Sony Cybershot G3 is a true first. It boasts direct web browsing from the camera via WiFi. The camera can upload photos and videos to Web sites through any public hotspot via its built-in Web browser. It comes with complimentary AT&T WiFi access to Sony’s Easy Upload Home Page all the way up until Jan. 31, 2012. It includes Wi-Fi access at thousands of AT&T hotspots across the United States, including participating coffee shops, some bookstores and quick-serve restaurant locations, plus hundreds of upscale hotels and airports. Some specs on the camera include a dedicated WLAN button, direct links to photo sharing sites like Shutterfly and Picasa Web Albums; video sharing sites like YouTube and Dailymotion.

The Sony Cybershot G3 also features a high-resolution 3.5-inch (921,600-dot) LCD screen, support for DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) guidelines, 10-megapixel sensor with 4x optical zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, 4GB of built-in storage (optional expansion is Memory Stick only), and Intelligent Scene Recognition feature with Face Detection technology. Sounds pretty sweet to me.
