I had worked on Windows (since ver 3.11) and also on Apple’s OS (since v. 7). Unfortunately, most personal computers I had in my life were Win based and even though with time I learned to ignore most regular shit I was thrown at by Microsoft, I just couldn’t live with Vista. I should point out here that my expirience with Vista is far less then with any other operating system by Microsoft. Even so, I needed no more then 1 semester of suffering the amazingly unorganized features and furstrating system faliures. When I wasa a teenager, I really enjoyed exploring the features of any OS, however when you grow up and realize that your job is not beta tester of apps and games (unless it actually is) you need something that doesnt get in your way when you want to do stuff. After this 1 semester of unwillingly encountering Vista on daily basis, and then running back to XP to only remind myself how it needs constant help by the user in order for it to stay somewaht stable, I had the chance to work on my mother’s MacBook on a business with my father around Europe. After about 3 days of hating Apple for making OSX different from Win I got used to it and realized how happy not dealing with my old Win-related problems I had made me. The fact that new macs can run WinXP/Vista on them, helped me take the risk and invest in a MacBook Pro. This was probably my best investment in a PC I ever made. This is the best OS out there, and the shiny outfit of the hardware is just the cherry on the top of a really good cake. I almost never run Win even though I have it on Mac and to be honest, I hope I never will. Finally, Macs have their cons but they are just to few… You’ll have to try a Mac for a week or so to believe me.

P.S. Mac OSX – not for gamers and people adicted to problems

That argument is moot.

The average user has no idea how to disable services. Judging XP vs. Vista after MODIFYING them is not a fair representation.

Take a computer, load it with XP, then take that SAME computer and load it with Vista (Any version) and you will INSTANTLY see that Vista is big time bloated. Don’t tell me Microsoft couldn’t make it run better than that. If you click on too may menus/windows Explorer craps out. That’s unacceptable.

I haven’t seen a single feature of Vista that makes me want to switch. As a software developer and former IT guru, I wan something fast, resource-efficient, and RELIABLE.

Vista is as good of an operating system as XBOX 360 is a stable console. Both are buggy out of the door and their makers refuse to admit there should be a recall.

People who “use” vista (surfing the web and desktop publishing” don’t have the issues. It’s the folks that really want to use the computer that know that vista is garbage.

My Mac crashes all the time too! It’s so buggy,I keep using it though – it’s gotta be better than anything else out there though – that’s what everyone is telling me at least.

I love my Mac! PC’s suck ballz – they don’t come with all the cool stuff Mac’s have – like garage band!

THEN then average user shouldn’t be commenting on Vista. NOR should the average user compare MAC OS to Vista. Mr. Ray Phillips Microsoft Certified Professional you should know that Vista is faster than XP at the core. Remove what you don’t need. DUH. Or is that too much for certified you?

Let’s face it. By the time the average user installs all the “adware” bars and startup programs to XP it is just as slow as Vista and since Vista handles memory, prefetching, and disk space better than XP they usually even out.

Maybe I can eventually get XP on my OLPC XO netbook after all! ^_^
FWIW, I run Vista with 1GB RAM, and it’s very smooth / fast. All the bloatware and multiple user accounts on my XP desktop have made the XP slower, even though it has better hardware.
If Vista is slow for you, probably you have Geforce 6150 GFX. =P

This doesn’t shock me at all…Vista never thrilled me, and my main system still uses XP. Hopefully, the new Windows 7 is a step up from the buggy, slow mess that was Vista (and no, I shouldn’t need 3-4 GB of RAM to run an operating system efficiently!)

how can you say switch to mac? and gaming on a pc is far far beyond anything of that which any console can do. yes vista is still problem ridden after sp1. get over it. or you can join jabberwolf and his tree hugging friends. enjoy the solitaire. oh, and try upgrading your mac for the next gen, oh wait! youll have to buy a whole new one which costs far more than allowed in your budget? get smart.

My Mack OSX crashes and gets so buggy all the time – I really want to love my Mac, but it always lets me down….I’ll keep trying though.

Mac OS X is so much better than any Windows program. I never have any problem with it. I have a Dell Windows XP at home and it works fine except its SOOO SLOW!!!
We just got it a couple years ago so I think I just have too much stuff on it. I should delete some but I use my Mac more so it doesn’t really matter.

Yes most people dont like changes, whats new.

Xp works just fine but does have it’s limitations as well.

Vista works just as well as XP Pro. (it should have been called WindowsME 2.0)

I love how Mac Fanboys trash a system without evening knowing the true values that some of the Microsoft Products offer. Bunch of hypocrites and ignorants if you asked me.

You think just because switching to a Mac is gonna fix everyones situation with a one fit for all, get real. Mac’s has as much problems this year alone as with Microsoft’s applications. Oh mac fanboys omitted that part… how convenient.

Wake up… Both corps are imposters from the real genuises from IBM.
