Sony P-series laptop leaks on Sony website

Posted in Sony by Shane McGlaun on December 26th, 2008

Sony P series PageOne of the most common ways that new products and gadgets are leaked to the public and geeky writer types is by an overzealous website administrator. Product pages are readied ahead of time and sometimes the go button is hit a little too soon resulting in a glimpse of what’s to come.

Just such a glimpse happened on the Sony website Christmas Day while most of us were happily eating turkey and playing with our new toys. A placeholder page popped up on the Sony website showing a new P Series notebook. Before you get too excited, the specifications and the image of the new system were not very useful.

The image attached to the page was one of a Sony TT notebook and key items in the details list like price and battery life were obviously placeholders. This leaves a big air of uncertainty for the specs that were listed, especially on the 8-inch LCD with a resolution of 1600 x 768. The page claims the processor will be a 1.33GHz Intel part. Sony will certainly be getting in the netbook market, and this could be the page where the little machine will show up. I bet we hear more at CES.
