PS3 to get 3D enabled with Blitz Tech |
3D technology will soon will make it’s way into the PS3 game console. Apparently a source has revealed that Sony has a plan to support stereoscopic 3D gaming and Blu-ray 3D movies on their PS3 game console next year with Blitz Games Studios’s Blitz Tech 3D engine. Neil Schneider, President and CEO of Meant to be Seen, the “world’s first and only stereoscopic 3D certification and advocacy group,” was told by Blitz Games Studios, the company creating and licensing the 3D engine, that Sony “fully intends” to use stereoscopic 3D for their games and blu-ray movies beginning in 2009.
Schneider says that “console support will only need a bios upgrade to work. We are told that the ability to add this capability via bios may be unique to Sony PS3 versus the other console solutions.”
People have had a love/hate thing going on with 3D since the around the 50’s and even with the newer stuff, it’s been more hype than good results. Who knows? That may be about to change with so many recent innovations, but I’m thinking this is the usual hype/implementation/yawn we’ve seen before. And nobody wants to wear nerd glasses. The key to 3D is in the display, not covering the eyes.

“it’s been more hype then good results”
should be
“it’s been more hype than good results”
My grammar is obviously more hype than good results, Lanny.
Might be interesting, considering yet another Exclusive feature the PlayStation3 can tout over it’s competition.
Exclusive Games/Home/3D/Blu-ray.
I’d like to see this feature sooner than later.
True, but sony has SO many things to tout over the competition, yet they are being destroyed by them. Sony seems to look too far into the future, but forgets that most of us are living in the NOW.
I’d take a solid ps3 over a console that breaks after lightly using it for 5 months and Microsoft telling me that its because it has TIN solder instead of LEAD solder…and that because I plugged my xbox 360 into a power strip it could have destroyed the entire console.
I bought both about a month apart..and I have no loyalty to either. I only bought the ps3 because at the time blue ray players weren’t that much cheaper.
Shame on Microsoft. I don’t know much about Sony, but at least they sell a machine that works for more than 8 months and you can actually watch a movie on it or play a game without going def from the noise the console makes.
