ezGear Wii MusicPack gives you a whole orchestra, formal attire not included

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 1st, 2008

ezGear Wii MusicPack gives you a whole orchestraYou can use the Wiimote alone as one of any 60 instruments featured in Wii Music. But that’s no fun. You need cheap plastic to really rock out with your orchestra. Plastic in the shape of a violin, saxophone and a pair of drumsticks. Now you’re rockin! Break out the formal-wear and pass some martinis around and your livingroom concert is complete.

The eGear WiiMusic Pack includes all three instrument attachments. The drumstick doubles as a conductor’s baton. That’s still 56 pieces short of a full Wii Music symphony orchestra, but it’s a start. For $30 it will make you feel like you are more then just a Wii music pretender.

Lacie intros currenkey flash drive

Lacie intros currenkey flash driveLaCie’s latest offering makes their flash drives more portable, though you’ll need to be careful that you don’t unwittingly spend it.

It’s thicker than a coin, but the metal exterior of the USB 2.0 drive provides the illusion, thereby making it easy to lose in a pocket full of change, or worse, in some stores register. It will cost you $20 for the 4GB version and $30 for the 8GB version. Not a bad price for the sizes, so you won’t mind too much when you accidentally pay for something with it and some dude at Walmart has some free pics of your wife…

Silicone Touch: An iPhone case for the blind

Silicone Touch: An iPhone case for the blindThe iPhone has never really been a friendly device for the blind, so this case designed by Bruno Fosi is fairly impressive. The Silicone Touch covers the iPhone’s screen and features a selection of bas-relief buttons that correspond to menu items in a custom app.

This lets the visually impaired access all of the phone’s functions, even multi-touch and finger flick scrolling. None of the phone’s functions are compromised. It’s just a concept at the moment, but this is one that we hope will see the light of day very soon.

For those who are difficult to shop for, the Holiday Season is a whirlwind of fancy ink pens, back massagers, gift cards, and gag gifts. Why not break that routine (slightly) and give them not just a pen, but a USB flash drive as well?

Blockbuster OnDemand download service coming to Blu-ray players

Posted in Blu-ray by Conner Flynn on December 1st, 2008

Blockbuster OnDemand download service coming to Blu-ray playersNetflix streaming has made it’s way into everything and people like it. As usual, Blockbuster is behind. But here’s some good news for the company.

According to Chairman Jim Keyes, Blockbuster’s download-to-rent service in a Blu-ray player will be here by Q1 of next year. Basically, if you’re an HD film fan then you’ll be able to rent HD quality films from Blockbuster directly through your Blu-ray Disc machine. No word if this will be in the form of a firmware update for existing hardware or part of a new player, but it’ll need to standout a bit and lower the price in order to compete with Netflix.

Posted in Heaters by Conner Flynn on December 1st, 2008

Vornado TVH 600 Space Heater with touchscreenIt’s getting freakin’ cold in my part of the world. That means it’s that time of year where we become dependent on space heaters. Chances are you are used to buying the cheap ones that break every year. Well, the Vorando TVH 600 looks like a very decent space heater.

The TVH 600 stands out with it’s touchscreen on top. Hell. everything else has a touchscreen, why not your heater right? If that doesn’t make it stand out enough for ya, it also has it’s own remote. With the remote, you can adjust the temperature of the heater, and it will work like a thermostat. That means that the TVH 600 will heat the room as it detects the temperature going down.
