Acer grabs top spot in netbook sales chart

Posted in Acer by Shane McGlaun on December 9th, 2008

Acer Aspire OneThe netbook is the sole bright point in computer industry with the current economic crisis worldwide. The netbook is selling like hot cakes thanks to the lower upfront cost and small dimensions for the service.

DisplaySearch has released its rankings for the netbook market and surprisingly Asus with its massive line of Eee netbooks isn’t in the top spot. The top spot in the rankings went to Acer with its Aspire One netbook. Some of its sales success is no doubt linked to the fact that it is the only netbook I have seen in Walmart locations.

Acer’s One holds a full 38.3% of the netbook market. The Asus Eee line has 30.3% of the netbook market. Those numbers are more impressive when you consider that Acer only has one netbook and there are many Eee versions to choose from. The other three netbook makers in the top five are HP, MSI, and Dell.
