Amazon Kindle sold out: Three month delay

Amazon Kindle sold out: Three month delayAmazon is having some trouble. Maybe they didn’t count on Oprah selling so many units. Maybe they just are really bad at stock management. Whatever the case, shipping on the Kindle ebook reader is currently listed as 11 to 13 weeks time, completely overshooting Christmas and making deliveries at some point in Q1 2009. This will be the second year in a row that the retailer could not meet demand. Last year, with the device being new, Amazon could at least use the excuse that they were ramping up production.

It was back in October that Oprah Winfrey endorsed the Kindle. Amazon is also rumored to be preparing the Kindle’s replacement, which was once expected to be on the market this holiday season, but now it is expected to be delayed until Q1 2009.

Holocube 3D Projection Box won’t let you talk to Darth VaderNow you can enjoy 3D imaging right on your desk with this interesting holographic display ‘Holocube 3D Projection Box’. It sports an integrated HDD that stores video and uses it to create 3D Holograms at a resolution of 1080i. It won’t produce a Princess in trouble, telling you that you are her only hope. Nor will it let you talk to your Sith lord or Sith apprentice in real time.

But it is pretty awesome. It’s available in 10-inch, 15-inch, or 17-inch models, with a 40GB hard drive. The Holocube can store up to 18-hours of compressed video at 4Mb/s on its 40GB hard drive, which can then be converted into a 3D hologram. You also get an optional floor stand for easy transportation.

Revolver Ring is a seriously small gun

Revolver Ring is a seriously small gunThese miniature gun rings won’t kill, but they may make your wedding vows a little more serious. Because when you and your spouse each have one of these, arguments end very quickly. While they would make interesting conversation pieces, I wouldn’t wear one to the airport. These rings come with tiny bullets that you can put in the chamber, which we hope is non-functional.

The gun is modeled after antique wild west revolvers and presumably would have been great for women on the frontier to protect themselves, as well as Mini-me. It’s a nicely crafted and tiny weapon.

Fizz Saver keeps the fizz in your soda

Fizz Saver keeps the fizz in your sodaIf you like your soda full of fizz, and love bar style beer taps, you might want to check out the Fizz Saver. It’s not rocket science, just screw the Fizz Saver onto your 2-liter bottle of soda, put the base on a flat surface, and you’re good to go.

Instant soda dispenser. It’s for those who like their soda like Hugh Hefner likes his woman: bubbly and buoyant instead of flat. There’s no explanation as to how it keeps your drinks carbonated. Probably helps that you won’t be unscrewing the cap several times and losing carbonation.

China produces knock off flip iPhone

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on November 27th, 2008

China produces knock off flip iPhoneWe’ve seen our share of knock-offs coming out of China, but this one is downright funny. They’ve taken the iPhone and turned it into a clamshell style phone. Funny thing is, it resembles a MacBook more then an actual iPhone.

It is attractive with the brushed aluminum casing and the iPhone look inside, but I’m guessing that performance isn’t up to par. Surprisingly, the camera is 3-megapixels, more than on most mid to low-end phones. It also sports a 2.6-inch display with a resolution of 240 x 320. It’s pretty small at 105 x 53 x 17mm and about 110 grams. One giveaway that this is a crap-gadget are the LED lights under the apple. I guess that’s the best they could do.

Retro Pin Art clockCheck out this retro Pin Art Clock. 3000 pins will tell you the time. It’s like you have Pinhead from Hellraiser trapped in a box and he’s forced to rear his head to tell you what time it is.

“Inspired by the popular Pin Art toy that uses moving pins to form the impression of one’s hand, this creation makes watching the clock a mesmerizing experience. The minutes click ahead with a sound that evokes the classic flip of the numbers at airports or train stations, combining aural ambience with visual style.”
