Lenovo ThinkPad USB Portable Secure Hard DriveWhen it comes to storing and backing up data on the road a USB hard drive is often the best route to go. The catch is that sensitive data can be easily lost while traveling and if the data you save on the external drive isn’t encrypted anyone who finds it can access your data.

Lenovo has announced a new external hard drive called the ThinkPad USB Portable Secure Hard Drive that is available in 160GB or 320GB capacities. Both of the drives are the same size and are approximately 3″ x 5″ and small enough to fit into a shirt pocket.

The drive encrypts data written to them with 128-bit AES in real-time so there is no lag when writing data to the drive. The most unique part is the numeric keypad on the drive that requires a code to allow access to the data. The drives will be available this month with the 160GB version going for $179 and the 320GB version for $219.
