Like any geek that was young in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s I was a huge Star Wars fan. Over the years, the newer films in the franchise and most of the games based on Star Wars left me unsatisfied. At points, it feels like George is whoring out our childhood icons.

The one video game that I have played in the Star Wars universe that I really liked was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. LucasArts and BioWare have announced that they are developing a new MMO game based in the same time span as Knights that will put players in the shoes of different Star Wars characters.

The game is set thousands of years before Darth Vader during a war between Sith and Jedi that split the galaxy. I am optimistic for this game since LucasArts is teaming with BioWare. BioWare is behind the fantastic sci-fi game Mass Effect. Here’s hoping this game is as cool as Knights was.
