Comcast offers 22Mbps and 50Mbps connection speedsIf you’re a Comcast subscriber, here’s some good news for once. The company just announced today that they will be offering new higher-speed options. The upgrade to their DOCSIS 3.0 service will give you 22Mbps and 50Mbps download speeds with 5Mbps and 10Mbps upload speeds. Even the standard tiers have been upgraded.

The 6Mbps/1Mbps tier will be moved up to the 12Mbps/2Mbps tier. Likewise, the 8Mbps/2Mbps tier will be replaced with the 16Mbps/2Mbps tier. While the upgrades won’t cost you any extra, the two new speed tiers will. The 22Mbps tier is being called the “Ultra” and will cost $63 while the 50Mbps “Extreme 50″ tier will cost $140. The New England area will be the first to get the service, though they plan on expanding it across the nation.

This should go great with the monthly bandwidth cap that I’m sure they’ll soon offer.
