Griffin Technology announced yesterday it had updated its popular iPod-friendly iTrip Auto for in car music playing. The new iTrip Auto will run you around $60.

Griffin says it updated the design of the new iTrip Auto FM transmitter and iPod charger. It also incorporates the company’s SmartScan function, which “seeks out the best FM frequencies available for iPod use, then selects the best of the best for use in transmitting your iPod’s music to your car’s FM stereo.”

Other functions of the iTrip Auto include automatically optimizing output volume, selectable stereo or mono modes, a large backlit LCD and a one-cable design. It should be available now.
