MSI launches new gaming notebook models |
MSI is not a name that is as recognized in the notebook world as Dell, Gateway, or other major notebook makers. MSI is probably better known for computer components like motherboards, but it does have a complete line of notebooks with some interesting features.
MSI recently introduced two new gaming notebooks — the GX620 and the GX720. The GX620 is a 15.4-inch notebook featuring a 1680 x 1050 resolution and running on Windows Vista Home Premium. The notebook uses an Intel Penryn Core 2 Duo P8600 CPU running at 2.4 GHz and graphics are via NVIDIA’s GeForce 9600GT with 512 MB of video RAM. Other features of the notebook include an optional Blu-Ray drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, and more.
The MSI GX720 features a 17-inch display with a 1680 x 1050 resolution and runs Windows Vista. The CPU in the system is an Intel Penryn Core 2 Duo P9500 running 2.53 GHz and a P8600 running at 2.4 GHz is optional. The notebook uses 4 GB of RAM and features a 320 GB hard drive. A Blu-Ray drive is optional, and built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and gigabit Ethernet are included. Both of these new notebooks feature a MSI’s CPU turbo mode, which overclocks the CPU by as much as 15% at the touch of a button.
