.ME live registration begins July 17

Posted in Domains by Nino Marchetti on July 16th, 2008

.MEIf you’ve ever wanted a domain which ends with .me, tomorrow is your chance to get one. This new domain, maintained by the .ME Registry, is set to begin taking your registrations at 15:00UTC July 17, 2008.

The .ME Registry was chosen by the government of Montenegro to make this domain extension available to the general public at this time. Over 85 accredited registrars from 24 countries will be selling .ME domains.

The registration process for .ME began in May when the Sunrise period for trademark holders began. In total more than 30,000 domains have already been registered and auctions for competing applications are now taking place. More premium names, such as Love.ME, Buy.ME, and Date.Me, will be on auction later in the year.

The LCN site has a handy little iCalendar reminder to make sure you don’t forget to register

Hi. I finally got a .me domain name from http://www.NeedAWebDomain.com
I didnt’ want to use godaddy but needawebdomain was an affiliate. I said heck I’ll try them. Very quick and got my domain in seconds. I was suprised too to get a personalized letter from the site owner saying welcome to the family.

I think I will be with needawebdomain.com forever now.

In response to Joe Kennedy’s comment, another website giving godaddy a run for the new .ME domain registration is:
http://www.webservices-international.com. A new offshoot from godaddy but with a lot more room to offer faster and equally reliable service as godaddy just like needadomain.com.
There are a lot more websites giving godaddy a run for services then you may think.
