Samsung announced today a new slim external DVD writer similar to the pictured SE-T084L. The new model is the SE-T084M and it will be pricing for around $150.

The Samsung SE-T084M is part of the company’s line of TruDirect optical disc drives. This particular portable DVD writer features 8x DVD+R and DVD-R writing, 6X DVD+R and -R Dual Layer writing, and 5X DVD-RAM writing. It is done in the slot-in style for disc loading.

Other features of the SE-T084M include a weight of less than a pound, not needing a hard drive to copy content through a computer to an inserted disc and the ability to function without a power cord. It will be available in July.
