Ion VCR2PC VHS to digital video converter
Do you have boxes of old VHS tapes taking up space in a dark corner somewhere? They probably contain all sorts of precious moments, so you don’t want to throw them out. Now you can turn VHS tapes into formats readable by today’s digital media players thanks to the ION.

The Ion VCR2PC video player can hook up to your computer via it’s USB port. Just pick a VHS tape, put it in the player and hook up the player to your computer. When the tape finishes playing, you’ll have it in digital format. Of course, you can also use the player as a fully functional, cable-ready VHS player. It will cost you $250, and will keep your memories safe.

can european vhs tapes be used on this ion converter

  2. kathy Says:

found it at Frontgate for $199.

  3. md Says:

Amazon has it for $175 but it has poor ratings

  4. Steve Says:

This is possibly the worst product, and the worst company I have ever patronized. I followed the ION AUDIO VCR2PC installation instructions perfectly, and the unit works, EXCEPT there is no detectable VIDEO!! It does not give you a video image. Their tech support number is long distance, no 800 line, and they only work 9-5. There is no mention of this product on their company page, No FAQ’s for this product, no general help info or troubleshooting for this product, NOTHING.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT. Go spend your hard earned money on something worth your time and effort.

  5. John Says:

I found it at Bed Bath and Beyond for $99 but Steve’s review saved me my $99.

  6. Barbara Says:

I 100 percent agree with Steve’s assesment of this product save your money and effort!!!!!!

  7. Mike Says:

I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond also for $99. I wasted an entire weekend trying to get it to work. It will not even load the drivers. Once I got it to sor of work work and it was so scratchy it was unacceptable. I tried it on all four of my computers and every USB port. I brought in a couple of “computer geeks” that I know and they could not get it to work either. This is a piece of junk. I’m returning it first thing in the morning. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

  8. Notdumb Says:

    This device works just fine.

  9. Kent Says:

Got mine for Christmas in the UK. It did not like using a USB extention cable, would not detect the device, but on removing the extendion the device was detected and the drivers loaded. When running the EZ VHS Converter software I was getting no video picture, I changed the Video Standard setting to PAL-I for the UK, but still no picture. After some messing around and a reread of the help files I found a bit that suggested using a USB port in the back of the PC, mine was plugged into the front. Plugged into a USB port in the back and everying started to work fine.

  10. Sarah Says:

Could someone help me out? I am trying to convert my mother-in-law’s videos using the VCR2PC and though the video/audio quality is not perfect, it will do. The problem is that I am unable to them burn the mpeg’s to disc: the audio and video are no longer matched up properly. Is this because of the copy-protection on the VHS tapes? I am horribly confused, and despite the best efforts of multiple friends (using multiple dvd-creation software types), no one can figure this out! My email is bgsarah@aol.com if you can help!

  11. Pam Says:

Wish I’d seen Steve’s review. I tried to help a senior friend of mine, who had bought this same unit (calling it a unit is even questionable. I too have had all the same troubles. I did capture and get the digital image to play back on the program but could not burn to disk. The program could not differentiate my CD drive from the DVD drive. This caused my computer to crash and after the system recovery ran I still have problems. This was a nightmare, and also found out my dear friend paid $289 for this device and it is available online for $175.

  12. Christine Says:

    Hi there
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to get my sound it goes on the puter fine video wise but cant get no audio
plz help i got it for xmas very excited to get some of my home videos on dvd got it for
    Best Regards
    Christine

  13. Niilo Says:

I got one of these from Bed, Bath and Beyond at Christmas too. It was reduced from $199 to $99 and I had a 20% coupon so I got it for $80. I’ve not yet been able to get the thing working. I don’t have a PC so am using a Macbook Pro running XP under VMWare Fusion. The VMWare virtual machine says the VCR2PC unit is connected to a USB port and recognized. All the drivers have been installed, and yet when I run the software it says that there is no video input detected or the device is “in use” by another application. I’ve tried both USB ports to no avail. I have a feeling the issue is because the Macbook’s iSight camera is detected on the same bus as the USB ports that the XP software sees that first and so can’t see the VCR2PC box. I’ve tried disabling the iSight but no luck.

Anyone else got this bloody thing to work in VMWare Fusion?

  14. Andrew Culture Says:

Well I couldn’t even get the drivers installed! I’m using 64bit version of Vista home premium which won’t allow any unsigned drivers, and yup, almost ALL drivers are unsigned! I’m now trawling the web looking for new drivers, wish me luck!

  15. Andrew Culture Says:

Wa-hoo, I grabbed the right driver off their website and it works a treat now! http://www.ionaudio.com/vcr2pc

  16. maria Says:

I was able to transfer the VHS to the computer without any problems but then could not transfer the video onto a DVD. I called the company at 401-658-3743 and the gentleman I spoke to sent me an email to the computer that I have the VCR2PC installed on. The email had an attachment…a file VXBLOCK.dll which he told me to click and drag to the desktop. Then open Computer, the C drive, Program Files, Ion, then you see EZ VHS Converter. He then told me to drag the file VXBLOCK.dll from the desktop directly onto the EZ VHS Converter file. Then go to your videos in the VCR2PC program, Burn the disc and you should be good to go. I did that, the video burned onto the disc, I am now able to see it on the computer and on our TV through our DVD player.
And I bought mine at Bed Bath & Beyond for $99.00 less 20% so I am happy because I have 50 more tapes to go!!!

  17. Steve Callahan Says:

Question to Andrew Culture: I talked twice to the ION tech support folks and they assure me that VCR2PC does NOT work on 64-bit Vista. Your problem sounds exactly like mine. Just what driver did you get? Are you sure you’re on a 64-bit system?

  18. V.Jain Says:

Golly after reading these multiple problems, i gave up even trying to convert my 10 nos VHS-c tapes (on a JVC camcorder). I think i will pay the studios to do it, max will cost me $100, and then i wont have a black box gathering dust at home. I dont have IEEE link, and the cam corder has no USB outlet, just the old line line outs white for audio and yellow for video. Thanks for the reviews, you all saved me time. Vjain1234 at gmail dot com.

  19. Ash Says:

Maria the VHS tapes you copied to DVD were they copyrighted?

  20. Robin Says:

I bought this unit at Christmas time and just got around to TRYING to install it a couple of days ago. I am trying to install it on Windows XP Pro, 32-bit. I am unable to get the drivers installed, being told that Windows cannot complete installation. I have followed the trouble-shooting tips, many times. Still, I cannot get it to install.
    Any suggestions?
Oh, by the way the ION website is no help at all. There is a driver that you can download. Once you’ve downloaded it (in zip format) and go to unzip it, you are told that it is free for 40 days but then you need to purchase it. Talk about sneaky!

  21. Jim Says:

I also bought mine at Christmas, and just installed it. I didn’t realize that it did not work at the time on 64 bit Windows Vista – but it does now as they updated the drivers. Granted, I had to fool around with the installation for about an hour – but got it working, and it is great. Definitely worth the money.

  22. Joseph Says:

I just bought the ION VHS 2 PC, installed it and tried to run it, following very strictly all the directions. I got the message under the header: ION EZ VHS Converter –> “No video signal detected. Please check the source video.
Am I missing something, or this software cannot run under Microsof Windows 7?

  23. michel Says:

cable must be put in at the backside of the computer. the usb in the front does not give any signal!

  24. TerryR Says:

On XP Pro (32 bit), the video works OK via the USB cable. No sound, though. I have tried everything I know, but no luck.

The tracking is awful. I have several videos that work perfectly well on my Video recorder, but the quality via this Ion device is terrible.

Their web site has updates (it claims) but you have to register your email address etc. I no longer trust this bunch, so I am not going to give them my email so that they can spam me.

    ION => TRASH CAN.

STEER CLEAR OF THIS PILE OF JUNK!

    Can anyone help me please?

    I use Windows Vista

  27. Arvid Karlsen Says:

The product did’nt work for me. Installation was simple on my Vista, but the macine itselves made noices as i did not manage to run the tapes properly. The result looked like an old movie from the the 1920′s and no colours were converted.

    Best regards,
    Arvid

  28. Lois Says:

After converting several VHS tapes to DVD I can not get the record time to accept any hour or minutes. Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong. I never touched any buttons to change things and now the record time doesn’t accept any amount of record time.

  29. Jeorg R. Says:

I have the same problem as Lois.
    PLEASE HELP!!!

  30. Brad R Says:

I too am seriouly frustrated with this peice of SH*T! After 3 hours of trying to get this to work; loading all the drivers correctly reading all the forums about this product, etc. etc, I still kept getting the error about not detecting video. After I was just about ready to trash this machine, I happened to look at the front of it and saw a very small swith that says TAPE | OTHER. I switch it to TAPE and low and behold the video was detected and started transferring movies fine. Happy ending right,? NO….when I play the DVD’s, I noticed parially through the movie, the audio and video started getting out of sync. Was only maybe a millisecond off, but by the end of the movie, it was almost 5 seconds off. AAAHHHHHHHHH! I could have bought DVD copies of my movies with the $ I spent on the machine!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. SHAME ON YOU ION!!!!!

  32. Anonymous Says:

Hi all! I’ve purchased two of these from Amazon and they work just fine for me! Had them for about 2 months now. Perhaps I’m getting the version with fixed drivers? Don’t forget to upgrade your software after you install it! You can do it from the arcsoft link, or from within the program under the ‘about’ section. To address some of the above:

Joseph- I have not tried it on Win7, but it is not Win7 certified, though it will run on the XP VM that comes with Win7Pro, Ult, and Ent. No vid sig could be the switch issue mentioned, security software blocking, or the settings could be wrong for your region (NTSC vs. PAL).

Arvid- Update should resolve the issues.

Brad- Try turning off the security software and any other apps while converting. Conversion and syncing audio/video are all done by the processor and ram, so if you have other things running, they end result can be out of sync.

Hope others can enjoy this as much as I have! It’s really great so far. Got 1 for myself and a friend and so far so good. :)

  33. Richard Says:

Hi all, I have in HP which has been upgraded to vista 32 bit OS. Installed the driver for this unit 1.43 and software, cable is plugged in back of the unit but I recieve no signal after activating the product. What’s up with these folks at ION?

    Selling garbage.

  34. Mark Black Says:

got the small one from PC world here in Lancaster, it works really well on my old AMD 3000 desktop PC.. sadly, on my nice new dual-core laptop the sound clicks and pops like popcorn, and it records like that too. weird. i will run a audio out direct from the VCR straight to the laptop, that should do it. if u r not getting a picture, try in the programs settings either detect video od change from S-VHS to composite or whatever.. u may be ok folks. it doesn’nt seem to work on Ubuntu Linux yet, sadly :( oh bum.

  35. Mark Black Says:

just a note, this of mine is a VIDEO2PC not the big VCR2PC .. this is a tiny box with a USB wire that connects to my VCR’s scart or composite.. (u need one of those little scart plugs with RCA phono connectors or scart to RCA lead then u r ready to go. but not on my laptop.

  36. Terry Says:

People I to was ready to throw this in the trash and I read a post earlier about that switch in the front. It comes out of the box as other and you need to switch this to tape. This will take care of your no video source problems. I did this and it works like expected.
It isnt a USB issue just flip the switch to Tape

  37. Mikeh Says:

I just got the VCR2PC yesterday at Staples for $59.99 (list was $99.99). Spent 3+ hours yesterday trying to get the driver installed on both an XP PC a VISTA PC with no results. Constantly got error messages that the driver did not install properly.
I tackeled the XP machine again today and started getting messages to insert the Windows XP disk (I canceled out) then it wanted another file I found on the software disk then it wanted .dll file I found in the Windows/System32 directory. So the driver is now on the XP machine.
I transfered 1 VHS movie and one camcorder (analog) tape to the PC
and I now have nice distorted unviewable videos (without any audio) on my PC. Guess what! This piece of junk is going back to Staples this afternoon.

  38. Mikeh Says:

There is some more detailed information on the driver installation if you GOOGLE “vcr 2 pc trouble shooting” but it still is not complete.

  39. Derek Says:

I have the Video2PC version the software worlks (sort of) the sound gets out of sync after 10 mins

With a little investigation I discovered VirtualDub ( freeware), it’s a little more complex for the beginner but it worked. No sound sync problem after 1 hour
It will create a AVI file, Freeware apps exist to convert to DVD format and Burn to disk

    Install the ION software
Copy the VirtualDub software (it did not seem to have an install app) on to your PC
    Run VirtualDub.exe
    in VDub select
File/ Set Capture File (chosse your file location and name)
    Device/VCR2PC Capture
    Video/ Video Source/ Video tuner
    Audio/ Enable audio capture
    Audio / Enable audio playback
    Audio / 0 Capture Device

    Start your VCR

    Then in VDub
    Capture/ Capture Video (F5/F6)

    Esc will stop recording

i have a vcr2pc i bought in 2008. at that time i had windows vista home premium and it worked just fine. i switched to windows 7 and now when i want to use it, a popup says:the device is not available or being used by another applicaton. i checked this using window 7
and it says it requires drivers. i went on ion’s website and even left them a tech message, no help and no reply. anyone has a suggestion where i can get a driver for this?

  42. Footloose Frank Says:

Bought the ION EZ VCR to PC converter to get all my old movies onto cd. Can’t get the copyrighted videos past the “warning” screen, while T.V. video copy sounds with hum, even at low volume.
Has anyone ever tried the software for the VHS2DVD Wizard for about the same price, used with your own vhs player? Seems like this black ion box is just that, a cheap vhs player.

  43. Jennie Says:

I wish I read these comments before I purchased the devise. Great concept, if it worked. After installed the sofware and tried to record, I kept getting a message saying that the devise is not reconizing he source. I tried a few things but never worked. Not to mention the numerous times the system froze on me.

I’m returning this item. I wouldnt recomend it

  44. Ron Says:

William , Have spoken to tech support . Drivers not yet available for Windows 7

  45. Dave D Says:

I just bought the unit and drivers and software installed perfectly. Instructions are on the lousy side. But I have already copied a couple of tapes and quality is fairly decent. I am not sure if I have a problem with sycn of image and sound on a 1 hour 45 minute tape. I’ll know more tomorrow. I only paid 29 bucks for it and it is not a refurb.

  46. Gerald Cox Says:

Everything seems to be working except cannot set the record time. Tried to input the time, but flips right back to zero. Tried to the increment buttons and will not change the time. Click on record, and it says I must input a time greater than zero. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Same thing. I can see the video playing and even the audio. Just will not let let me set the time. How frustrating. I notice that I am not the only one with this same problem. Did anyone find a solution? Please share how to solve this time setting problem.

  47. Gerald Cox Says:

And to the person who says to go to the manufacturers website for all the answers to all the problems — you’ve got to be kidding. Those few problems you provide answers to are for mere simplistic problems. There is nothing for the more difficult problems like you see above.

  48. Mel Elliott Says:

I purchased the ION VCR2PC in Dec 09. I have lots of VHS tapes containing movies that I had recorded from the TV. I haven’t experienced any problem with getting the VHS Movie, via VCR2PC. But when I tried to “Burn” it to a CD I did run into some problems. First, if the movie is longer than 1 & 1/2 hours you will need blank cd that have more than 4.7 GB. I purchased some Memorex DVD+Rdl, 8.5 GB. I had no problem converting 2 or even 3 hour movies. The problem that I have encountered, is that the CD’s will not play on my BluRay Panasonic DVD!! Any suggestions??

  49. inlawpresent Says:

I put videos in and they came up on screen and had the box ticked to put straight on disc which it did BUT they dont play back on my dvd or my own laptop its like their not recognised or empty discs but will play back on the laptop that did the recording. So no better off just dont get it.

  52. josh Says:

Works fine for me. Looks like from the reviews your mileage may vary, but I’m glad I bought it.

  53. jeff Says:

I say the product and figured WOW” this is perfect and just what I need. but after seeing and reading everyone of these cmments on here,,of course I am way too unsure about even picking this item up. Its like 98% bad comments and the other 2% aren’t really that positive either!!
Does anyone know of any other product on the market that you can actually take your videos or camcorder videos and transfer them to DVD?
There has to be something out there that is reliable and without such complications.
I appreciate anyones reply to this comment. thanks

  54. Angie Says:

I must be one of the lucky buyers of this product cause it works (knock on wood), however….. as soon as I put a tape in the VCR, I hear a tic like an electric static signal. I’ve tried to change the USB cable (thinking there was a loose wire or something) but still no luck. Even when I turn the VCR off and watch the blue small screen on my computer, the tic is still there and annoying cause it burns this sound also onto my DVD. Any suggestions?

Just got my VCR2PC yesterday from RadioShack. I am having no problems recording video however I have NO SOUND. Tried several different VHS tapes. when i hit play on the vcr and i get a video and sound on my computer but when i hit record the video goes black , the sound goes out and it does not record.

  59. cindi Says:

It works okay with the videos recorded on the big VHS tapes. But, the VHS-C tapes that we recorded with the camcorder have a problem. They transfer to the PC okay, they burn onto the DVD-R okay, the DVDs even play on the computer okay. When I try to play the DVDs through the DVD player they just don’t load. Any ideas?

  60. Tim Krambeck Says:

Got this VCR2PC. Have older Compaq desktop w/XP Pro. It tries to load driver but says it can’t find file. “Files Needed” box comes up and says to get file 0140_x86.sys. I click on D: and it just blanks out. Went to web site and d/led to drivers file and it does the same. Comes up finished with error code 28 and also says access denied. WTF? Got from Heartland America. Not refurbed. $69. Sure wish I’d read the above first. Gonna try again to load with antivi and spyware off.

  61. Eduardo Says:

I bought the VCR2PC brand new for $30 (2009). I have a Vista 64 bit and when I installed everything I did give me errors. I fixed them and managed to convert 20 videos. I have 5 videos left and I really want to save them because the VHS cassettes are getting really dusty. But now the same popup error from before has returned. It says ” the device is not available, or is being used by another application…” AAAHHH!!! I uninstalled and installed everything about 3 times already. I’ve updated the driver and still nothing. Oh by the way, Robin said “you are told that it is free for 40 days but then you need to purchase it”. Is this true? Anyways, maybe I am doing something wrong. But I can assure you guys that it works on a Vista 64. Good thing I didn’t the buy it for the price you guys paid but still 30 bucks is a lot!!!. I mean you can really have fun with 30 bucks. There has to be a cure for the disease. People c’mon!!!

  62. Pamela Says:

Maybe of some small help to those with audio and and record time; wit audio, [after endless time of digging around] I clicked on one of the videos I had managed to transfer, and saw that for some inexplicable reason, the volume was turned off. So wherever you save your videos, try going there and seeing if the volume controls are set properly. It worked for me but it seems so goofy that that was the problem. This is certainly the worst device I’ve ever bought. As for the record time; this drove me nutso, but it’s somewhat better now. Try going to; “settings”, > “general”, > “video recording storage” and changing the “quality” with the up/down arrows. I was able to get it from 16 minutes to 1 hour, 34 minutes. It seemed to change depending upon WHERE I selected to file the videos captured. Hope that helps someone. If not, consider a sledgehammer. Sigh. :-(

I think we should all write better Business Bureau and then get our monies back.

After sending one back and several days working with the second one I did get this installed. It worked ok on most tapes but cannot correct the tracking on some.
I would never recomend this system to anyone and I told them that.

2nd comment. Had enough, sent it back before my 30 days were up.See March 23rd.

  66. nakota Says:

after reading a bit i know why it isnt working and its really something simple and dumb, they didnt get there drivers signed by microsoft so they arent automaticly loded insted of telling you how to do this im just gonna copy paste the instructions from a comment off of amazon
    1. plug VCR2PC into outlet
    2. insert cd into PC
    3. plug usb cable into PC and VCR2PC
3.a at this point it should have auto installed but i just got a message box in the tray that said your hardware was not installed correctly.
3.b i went to Device Manager and there a yellow exclamation on VCR2PC, i right clicked on it, updated the driver and pointed to the CD
3.c the driver installed successfully but Windows Vista/7 x64 disabled the driver because it was not digitally signed by the publisher
3.d i went to http://www.ion-audio.com/vcr2pc click on Documents & Downloads and downloaded the following:
    3.d.1 VCR 2 PC – NTSC Hardware Driver [v1.43.07.50]
3.d.2 VCR 2 PC – Driver Update Instructions
3.e i unzipped the NTSC Hardware Driver zip file to a temp folder C:\Temp
3.f i went back to Device Manager right clicked on VCR2PC and updated the driver again this time pointing to C:\Temp
    4. from the CD i ran the setup file on the root of the CD and ran the default settings
    5. i opened EZ VHS Converter (ArcSoft product, excellent software package that is compatible with Media Center remotes)
5.a i got an error that said there is a problem with my sound device, i ignored this error
    6. i put in Rush Hour VHS tape which wasn’t rewound so it started automatically in the middle. i got audio perfectly and in sync so i figured the error about the sound device wasn’t worth looking into
6.a i rewound the tape and played from the beginning
    7. the movie box says approx 97 minutes so i set EZ VHS Converter to record for 1 hour 40 minutes
    8. when the tape got to the point where i wanted to start the recording i just clicked Record
8.a 1 hour and 40 minutes later i had my MPEG version of my VHS in my Videos folder. (My Documents/My Videos)

this will fix the problem and remember to install the arcsoft drivers or the computer cant encode video as in there will be no video

I had problems, too, installing this on my Windows 7 system and after 3 hours, I almost threw in the towel and thought about loading it on my XP machine. Then I made one adjustment, I disabled the Digital Permissions at startup by clicking F8 and selecting the option to disable this setting.

I then, uninstalled the driver and tried again. It works.

One catch, you have to make sure this setting is disabled each time you want to use the device.

Also had problems installing, ran through the installation proceedure time and time again, done exactly what it said, but no, device fails to start, drivers install okay, but fails to start, thinking it was the computer which runs Windows XP sp3 32bit, I decided to run it on another machine with a fresh install of xp sp3 32bit, same message. I have tried the default drivers on the disc, also the updated drivers from the ION website, my next move will be to try another usb cable, even though it was correctly plugged in the back of the machine with no extensions, I’m an experienced computer technician with 10 years experience and to be honest this damn thing really tests the patience, if it happens to be the usb cable then there is something wrong on the production line, otherwise I would suggest staying away from this device, it’s design is faulty but if you want a challenge go for it.

I bought this machine 18 months ago for my husband’s birthday. He never did get it to work so today I decided to try. Although it appears to instal ok, we cannot set the video capture time – eg when we type in say, 2, for 2 hrs, it reverts to 0 and when we select ‘record’ a message comes up that you must set the time for at least 1 minute. But as it doesn’t accept anything we type in ….. we are about to chuck the damned thing out of the window!!!!

I just used the VCR 2 PC for the past two weeks digitizing and burning our old family VHS tapes and it worked PERFECTLY. The only problem I have encountered: the DVDs I burned will not play on our DVD player. BUT the DVD player, although a VERY good one, is about 10 + years old, so maybe this is the problem. The files play on a Vista 64 bit Windows PC through Windows Media Player; play on an old laptop; play on ever computer we try the burned DVD in . . . just not on our TV screen via our DVD player. Any suggestions? Otherwise, it’s a fantastic piece of equipment, and I’m so happy to have found it for transferring our deteriorating, precious home movies!

After much excitement in purchasing this product, I found that my picture was not in colour and very jumpy. I have no idea how to correct this and any help whatsoever would be immensely appreciated. I am beginning to wonder why I bothered buying this as the majority of comments here are negative. Also there are now FAQs either with the box or online to deal with my problem and this in itself is extremely frustrating to say the very least. :-( (((

I bought this and did not know it wont work on a Mac OS X. Does Ion make the software for Mac?

  76. Steve Says:

Oh dear I just bought this thing today and it’s still in the box but guess what, I just noticed that the box has already been opened and taped up again so it looks as though someone else has already had some fun with this thing. I will try and get it up and running tomorrow and then get back with the results.

  77. Steve Says:

Back, :( FAIL, I suggest people give this product a miss and wait until a proper company comes along and makes one of these devices.

  78. Tom Says:

I bought one and after a bit of trial and error and help from the online manual (the one in the box is next to useless), I got it to work just fine. For about 6 dvd’s worth. Then, although it says it’s recording, it doesn’t. If anyone can help, it would be appreciated. Though from the other comments it may be that I was lucky to get what I did.

  79. linda Says:

i don’t know why everyone had problems…I hooked it up to my 32 bit vista laptop and my 32 bit home vista, and it worked fine. Also works great on my camcorder, using the cables that come with camcorder (used to hook it up to vcr to play tapes on tv.

Ive transferred all mine and my families tapes…over 30 of them!

  80. Michael HOW Says:

my first try at the VCR2PC produced a disc with the suffix .mpg. This won’t play on my AQUOS BD player. Can you change the suffix to record in .avi or some other more recognizable form……?

    Thanks!!

  81. Mike Says:

I just got this to work on Windows 7 after a week of frustrating installs and uninstalls. All I did was “run as administrator” and it works!

  82. Maria Says:

I just bought the VIDEO 2 PC and i get the “no video signal” message when I try to record. I have read about the tape/other switch-thing, but i can’t even find a switch :S I have looked on my VCR and the VIDEO 2 PC, and i can’t find any switch… o.O

  83. HappySad Says:

To the LEFT of the USB slot on the front of the machine (bottom right hand corner)there are the AUDIO IN and VIDEO IN sockets and next to that is the “Tape|Other” button. Move this to the Left.
    :)

To those that cannot get the length of time to set…

I was at my wits end trying to figure out why sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn’t. Finally I re-read, for the umteenth time, my maual, and it says that you need a certain amount of space on your hard drive to record. Sure enough, when I deleted some things, it worked fine. Good Luck All!
