Alienware Area-51 ALX DesktopWhen it comes to Alienware one of the first things that always jumps to my mind are seriously expensive computers. For the computer gamers out there that just don’t want to bother with building their own gaming rigs, Alienware has been a popular alternative—so long as the budget allows.

We took a look at the ALX desktop in March when it was first offered with quad graphics. Alienware announced today that it has updated its Area-51 ALX desktop and was re-launching the line. The centerpiece of the updated rig is the availability of the industry’s first overclocked Intel QX9770 running stable at 4GHz available direct from the maker.

Alienware also stuffs in quad graphics with either NVIDIA 9800 GX2 quad SLI or ATI Radeon CrossFireX with HD 3870 X2 video cards. The CPU is liquid cooled, a necessity with a frequency as high as it has. The machine also has 4GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz RAM. Prices start at over $4500 and if you fully option the beast you will need a piggy bank stuffed with over $7400.
