Hop-On HOP1800While you and I may not understand it, there is a certain percentage of the population that simply wants nothing to do with cool gadgets. I know these people really have no place in a civilized society, but in the spirit of brotherhood and acceptance I present the $10 anti-iPhone.

Hop-On has announced a new disposable cellular phone that retails for only $10 called the HOP1800. The device lacks anything fans of tech want to see on a mobile phone like good looks, LCD display and generally anything cool.

What the phone does is send and receive phone calls—that’s it. It works on GSM dual band 850/1900 MHz and a version is available that works on European frequencies of 900/1800MHz. The phone promises 5 hours of talk time and a standby time of 150 hours. The phone is intended for use as a pre-paid device and the manufacturer offers a $5 mail-in rebate to get users to recycle the devices.
