Alienware unveils its fastest gaming notebook ever |
Alienware is well known for its gaming notebooks and desktops and it is also well known for selling some of the most expensive computers on the planet. Alienware announced its latest gaming notebook this week called the Area-51 m17x and the machine lives up to Alienware’s image on both performance and cost fronts.
The m17x can be optioned with the fastest notebook products available including Intel’s 45nm Core 2 Extreme X9000 mobile processor. The machine can also be had with dual NVIDIA 8800M GTX graphics cards in SLI mode. The m17x uses a 17-inch LCD with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 and can be had with a backlit keyboard.
Storage is usually at a premium with a notebook, but the m17x packs in plenty with an option for up to 1.5TB of storage in a RAID array. The notebook also has a sound system built-in that includes two speakers and a subwoofer for gaming, movies and music. With all these high-end components onboard you know the machine won’t be cheap. Base level units without the go fast goodies start at $2199 and if you add all the options you are looking at more than $6300.
