It looks like something out of a James Bond movie but it could very well be the most cool personal sub yet. It’s the Marion Hyper Sub and you’ll find that while there is no price as of yet, you can damm well bet you’ll need to be diving for treasure to pay for this once it appears at your local port of call.

The Marion Hyper Sub is described by Tuvie as a “submersible powerboat.” What exactly does this mean? Think powerboat meets sub. It can reportedly run with the big boys on the surface at decent speeds and take you down underneath the waves when things start to get rough in the cloudy skies above.

NEC is out today with some new mobile projectors it says are value-oriented. These are the NP100 and NP200, priced at around $650 and $500 respectively.

Both of these new projectors, part of NEC’s NP Value series, use Texas Instruments DLP technology with BrillantColor for a 1300:1 contrast ratio. Model specific features on the NP100 include SVGA resolution and a brightness of 2,000 lumens, while the NP200 has 2,100 lumens and a XGA resolution.

You may now never have to worry about getting stabbed in the back literally as you walk down the street. A uniform manufacturer in Japan has reportedly developed a T-shirt which provides protection against knives.

The Daily Yomiuri reports these T-shirts are made from “slightly thick fibers that are more than three times as strong as cotton.” The strength of this shirt’s fiber reportedly makes it equal to that found in body armor. You can even toss it in the wash to get off the blood after you kick the ass of your would be attacker.

GalleryPlayer, a self-described pioneer in lifestyle imagery, is adding Mitsubishi to its grouping of CE manufacturers whose HDTVs you can use to show off “full HD 1080p fine art and photographic images.” Panasonic is among the others already doing this.

GalleryPlayer said its technology will be embedded into 2008 Mitsubishi HDTV models launching this spring. This technology will allow for the playback of GalleryPlayer’s “rights-protected HD images.” The technology company and Mitsubishi are also developing a co-branded Web site which wil let Mitsubishi HDTV owners “access the GalleryPlayer online store and easily download, manage, and export images from such top partners as The Metropolitan Museum of Art and National Geographic.”

How many well known consumer electronics brands can be shoved under one stable? We may soon find out as word has come from the Land of the Rising Sun that Harman International has bid for D&M Holdings in a sale which could run the former around $700 million.

This bid, according to Bloomberg, first surfaced on Friday. This potential acquisition bumped up D&M stock in Tokyo. If this purchase were to go through, a news article from the Japan Corporate News Network suggests Harman would ending up taking “a dominant share in the global audio market.” For its part, D&M issued a statement saying reports on this are not based upon information it has provided.

To put it in perspective, D&M Holdings currently houses the brands of Denon, Marantz, Boston Acoustics and Escient, among others. Harman, meanwhile, brings to the table Harmon Kardon, Infinity, …

The idea behind this PLUG + PLAY wireless speaker system is that it would make all of your music available, regardless if it is stored on cell phones, PCs or MP3 players. That would be pretty damn convenient. The transparent speakers deliver high sound quality and also blend into most interiors at the same time. Audio files would be transmitted from a device and PLAY via the small PLUG elements. The plugs would be compatible with many different mp3 players, computers, cell phones and other devices. There is also a transparent LCD-display in the glass, that gives you the usual information about song title, equalizer, etc. This is a pretty fascinating concept, even though we won’t be seeing it anytime soon.

All anyone needing the services of their friendly neighborhood bat need do is flip the switch, and this desktop device will project a Bat-Signal an impressive 16 feet! Batman will likely not show up. Mario Kart has not yet been released, but already there is at least one alternative that’s better then the steering wheel that comes with the game. Thrustmaster has apparently branched out from the joystick business and they are now selling the T-GoKart NW steering wheel accessory for the Wii.

First, it looks much cooler then the original that comes with Mario Kart. Plus, the T-GoKart has a rubber grip and strategically positions the Wiimote so that you can access the buttons easily while your hands are at the ‘10 and 2′ positions. It also has holes on both sides so you can use the Wiimote for pointing while it’s in the wheel or for connecting the Nunchuck controller when needed. You can get it in April for about $10. Let’s-a-go!

If you aren’t a morning person and need a bit of a boost to get you out of the bed Memorex has a new device that might help you wake up. The Memorex iWake clock Radio for the iPod was announced today and the radio is available in three bright colors—red, blue, and purple.

The device has a built-in iPod dock and can wake you to music from your iPod or wake you to the AM/FM radio built-in. The iPod dock can charge and power all iPod models. If the bright colors don’t float your boat, you can get the iWake in black or white as well.

Navigation units are becoming one of the most used car electronics devices around. They are a great way to get from location to location without having to stop and ask directions and without getting lost or having to resort to a paper map.

Mio Technology announced four new GPS devices today using content from its recently acquired Navman purchase. The four devices are the Mio Moov 200, 210, 300, and 310. All four models have a touch screen with the 210 and 200 using a 3.5-inch touch screen and the 300 and 310 units featuring 4.3-inch touch screens.

It really sucks when you get lost and it’s even worse if you happen to have a wife or significant other in the car at the time to tell you that you should have stopped for directions. The easy way to avoid this is to get a navigation unit, but for some the thought of cluttering up their car with a navigation unit is unbearable. Kenwood’s new products that feature built-in navigation in-dash may be just the ticket.

Garmin and Kenwood announced today that they were extending their relationship. Gamin will be the exclusive navigation supplier for Kenwood’s new 2008 line of in-dash automotive electronics. Garmin and Kenwood also say that they will work together on advertising for the new Kenwood products featuring Garmin navigation.

A notebook hard drive sporting 320GB isn’t a new capacity and there are larger notebook drives available right now. However, what is interesting about the new 320GB Fujitsu MHZ2 BJ series notebook drive is that it spins at 7200 RPM.

Typically when a notebook hard drive gets into higher capacities it has to slow down to 5400 RPM or even less for some drives. Not so with the new Fujitsu drive, it gets to spin at full speed. Fujitsu says that the drive has an average latency time of 4.17ms and has a read seek time of 10.5ms and a write seek time of 12ms.

It looks like Sony’s next firmware update for the PS3 might include even more than the BD-Live interactive content on Blu-ray discs and the loss of the max file size for some video media. According to PCWorld the 2.20 firmware upgraded for the PS3 will also bring the ability to transfer Blu-ray movies from discs on the PS3 to the Playstation Portable.

This would be a nice feature for Sony to add sounds like it would be not unlike the Digital Copy we saw from FOX movies for iTunes. Instead of taking the time to convert each film into a special version for the PSP, some Blu-ray discs would have a “portable copy” of the movie that can be transferred to the PSP.
