Sony MDR-NC40 noise canceling headphones get smaller and cheaperSony has a new set of noise canceling headphones heading for shelves next month, priced a little more affordable than many similar products. Sony says the MDR-NC40 noise canceling headphones are due out in March with a $100 price tag.

It doesn’t look like this set would be the same quality as the $300+ models but for anyone looking to upgrade from a pair of $14.99 earbuds would likely notice quite a difference. The MDR-NC40′s don’t appear to carry quite as much bulk as some of the competitors either, and come with a nice leather bag that the fold up into for easy transport.

When the battery runs dry the headphones can still be used like regular headphones without the noise canceling features.
