Posted in Notebooks by Nino Marchetti on February 27th, 2008

drs-armor.jpgDRS Tactical Systems announced today a line of portable computers which could probably just as easily survive in military situations as well as your backyard. It is called the Armor line and it consists of the C12 convertible notebook and the X10 tablet PC.

DRS said its Armor computers make use of Intel processors, integrated Wi-Fi, Ethernet and sport a PCMCIA slot. They weight around 5.2 pounds, including the battery. The C12 notebook sports a 12.1-inch display which is touchscreen sensitive. The case is made of a die-cast magnesium alloy and has been “extensively tested for drop-shock, moisture, temperature extremes and resistance to dust and vibration.”

The X10 tablet PC, meanwhile, offers up a 10.4-inch display which is also touch sensitive. Its aluminum chassis offers special sealing technology to protect from dust, dirt, water and temperature extremes. It has no-flap input connections and backlight technology.
