Pentax K20D Digital SLR cameraPentax today announced a new flagship to their line of digital SLR cameras with the Pentax K20D. This new model builds on the popular K10D with an array of improvements including 14.6 effective megapixels, a large 2.7″ display, a finer JPEG format, and Live View giving the full image area in the display. The K20D even has an improved Dust Reduction system with a feature called Dust Alert, which not only informs the photographer of the presence of dust particles but will also pinpoint their exact location.

Some other highlights of the K20D that might interest the experienced photographer include a new CMOS sensor to take better advantage of the interchangeable lenses, weather and dust resistant body, Shake Reduction system and a sync socket to connect the camera to a PC for integrating with studio lighting.

Pentax is going to have this camera along with the new K200D model on display at the PMA 2008 trade show next week in Las Vegas. The K20D will start shipping in April with a retail price of $1300 without any lens. New lenses will start shipping between March and May ranging in pricing from $200 to $1100.
