LaCie Little Big Disk Quadra mobile drive

LaCie today announced at CES 2008, the new Little Big Disk Quadra, an ultra fast mobile disk designed for speed-intensive and capacity-demanding applications, like digital content creation, high-volume data exchange, and video editing, while on the move. The Little Big Disk is designed to run quietly and has superior heat dissipation with an integrated fanless cooling system. The aluminum heat-sink design also ensures superior reliability.

The Little Big Disk Quadra will be available in 400GB and 500GB versions with your choice of either 7200 or 5400 RPM drives, respectively. A quadruple interface allows universal connectivity for cross-platform compatibility.

Equipped with one eSATA 3Gbits, two FireWire 800, and one USB 2.0 port, the Little Big Disk Quadra is FireWire 400 compatible thanks to an included FireWire 800 to FireWire 400 cable. It’s bus-powered with FireWire 800 for true mobility and is bootable with FireWire for Mac OSX or eSATA for Windows.

  1. AT Says:

Bootability by firewire on Mac is a lie! I cloned my MacHD using Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC – and the software settings confirmed bootability of the clone), but there’s no way to get the Mac to recognize the clone on Disk Startup Utility or with Command-Shift-Option-Delete during startup. Even LaCie technicians told me they did not design the product to support bootability!
