Canon debuts new under $50 inkjet printer

Canon PIXMA iP2600 Photo PrinterAnother new digital imaging related offering from Canon this week is a new inkjet photo printer which can print photos at up to 4800×1200. It is the Canon PIXMA iP2600 Photo Printer and price is set at around $50.

The Canon PIXMA iP2600 Photo Printer, besides offering print head technology which can do the 4800×1200 resolution, can print borderless 4- x 6-inch photos in 55 seconds. It can also print documents, presentations and Web pages at speeds up to 22 pages/minute (ppm) for monochrome, and up to 17 ppm for color.

Other features of the iP2600 include a paper outlet tray, included black and color print cartridges and a function which “automatically analyzes and categorizes the scenes in photographs and optimizes print output for each individual scene in accordance with the scene type.” It should be available in February.
