Even though Universal and Paramount have both come out and said their “current plan is to continue to support HD-DVD”, not only is the word “current” conspicuously present in the statement, the word “exclusively” is conspicuously absent. They can’t anything else for contractual reasons, but you bet that once they have the legal kinks sorted out they will support both formats and doing so will put the final nail on HD-DUD’s coffin.

I had no favorites, no vested interest in either format, so I did what I did when I bought my first computer. Do I want Mac or PC? Hmmmm. Look at the titles available. That’s what decided me on my first computer. Macintosh computers are still around, in fact I’m using one now. Maybe HD DVD will survive. Almost ALL of the movies I tend to see lately are Disney, Fox, Sony and Warners. Deciding on Blu Ray was a no brainer for me.

For myself, I’m not believing anything as fact until I see the press release from Paramount and Universal. It would be awesome if they would also support Blu Ray, but like I said, they haven’t been producing too movies that I’m dying to see on high def and the standard def movies look fabulous in my Blu Ray player.

HD-DVD has lost and the best thing everyone can do is leave HD-DVD the hell alone and end this mess as soon as possible.

Anyone who signs that stupid petition above me is basically saying they want the format war to continue and even if Warner went back to HD-DVD BluRay would still have more manufacturer support, more studio support, more worldwide stand alone player sales and 350k+ PlayStation 3 BluRay players being sold every week.

Sign all the petitions you want. Petitions won’t change things, but buying a few million more HD DVDs might have.
