Waterfall Audio showcasing all glass speakers

Posted in Speakers by Nino Marchetti on December 17th, 2007

Waterfall AudioFrench loudspeaker audio company Waterfall Audio is set to introduce to the United States some rather unique glass loudspeakers. The slim Victoria EVO and Iguasçu EVO models will price per pair at around $5,400 and $3,900 respectively.

The Waterfall Audio glass speakers are handcrafted fully in glass via a “combination of advanced computer-controlled diamond and water-jet glass cutting techniques.” They measure about 40 inches high and 10 inches wide. The Victoria EVO, a three-way/four-driver design, includesa downfiring, 8-1/2-inch passive woofer, while the Iguasçu employs identical drivers (including the passive woofer) in a two-way/three-driver arrangement.

Other features of the Victoria EVO and Iguasçu EVO models include wiring which is designed to “disappear” within each speaker’s angles, drivers fashioned from precision-machined cast aluminum and optional grilles. They are expected at retail by March of 2008.

Very intersting and very neato if one can afford it and it does deliver sound quality. I believe that Pioneer had a 4 way HPM-100 speaker made of glass or perhaps lucite. I do not know if it was made like that just to show off the internal build of the speakers or whether they actually ever sold models of these units.
