Check Mii Out on the Nintendo Wii starting Sunday |
Anyone who’s had a chance to play the Nintendo Wii has probably also had the opportunity to represent themselves on the game console as a cartoon-like Mii character. Most probably try to make an accurate likeness of themselves but many create Mii alter-egos or try to recreate a well-known likeness. There’s even been Celebrity Mii design contests to see who can use the Mii editor to make the best celebrity Mii look-a-likes such as the likeness of Jack Black pictured here.
Well, all the fun people are having with these Mii’s hasn’t gone unnoticed by Nintendo and in response on Sunday the company will add the “Check Mii Out Channel” to the Wii menu lineup. For those that have their Nintendo Wii connected to the internet the new channel will be offered as a free download through the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop channel.
The new interactive channel will encourage users to create their own Mii characters that resemble popular individuals or a specific theme such as a bully or a nerd. Users can then use the Posting Plaza to submit, exchange and look around at posted Miis from around the world or in their geographical area.
There will also be a contest for the new Check Mii Out channel where users can submit these created characters to be voted on by others. The contest will have a specific theme or person to create and will allow a week for creation and submitting and then a week for voting. The Mii with the most votes wins, but what they win we’re not sure of at this point. Either way the new channel sounds like quite a bit of fun and if you own a Wii console and an internet connection the new channel is certainly priced right and one that we’ll be partaking in this weekend.
