This is especially true of those who use mapping software on laptops or cellphones. For these people a company called Secured Digital Applications today unveiled a new Bluetooth GPS receiver priced at under $100.

The Secured Digital EyStar Bluetooth GPS Receiver works in conjunction with Bluetooth-enabled mobiles and laptops running navigation software such as Microsoft Street and Trips. It broadcasts the current location to the software via its Bluetooth signal. Secured Digital says the 20-channel all-in-view tracking SiRF Star III GPS receiver has high sensitivity for better tracking in cities.

This Bluetooth GPS receiver is rated to work for up to 15 hours off of its battery. It also comes with LED lights to indicate battery, Bluetooth and GPS status. Expect it on store shelves in the first quarter of next year.
