Nokia reveals pricey, stylish 8800 Arte mobiles

Nokia 8800 Sapphire ArteNokia revealed today some pricey new handsets focused towards style-conscious consumers. The Nokia 8800 Arte will start shipping in the fourth quarter of 2007 for 1000 EUR, while the Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte (pictured) will follow in the first quarter of 2008 and retail for 1150 EUR.

These two mobiles are described by Nokia as having a metal and glass composition and sporting a slide mechanism comprised of ball bearings. Unique features include tapping the steel surface below the two-inch OLED display to display an analog clock and turning over the phone to silence it from ringing.

You also get your other typical bells and whistles like a 3.2-megapixel digital camera, Bluetooth, 1GB of memory and some included accessories. The Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte also includes the little matter of a “a genuine sapphire gem stone and an accent of soft leather” set into the mobile’s body. Nice…
