Atiz BookSnap helps to digitize your books

Atiz BookSnapWhile we aren’t quite sure how many people are out there who are interested in digitizing their book collections Atiz Innovation seems to think there are enough to warrant creating a device for this crowd. This new product is called the BookSnap and it is priced at around $1,600.

The Atiz BookSnap takes the form of a v-shaped book cradle which you place your book in, flipping it one page at a time. It makes use of digital camera technology and OCR software to digitize books reportedly upwards of 500 pages per hour. Other included software is used to crop and adjust the pages, outputting the final product as a PDF file.

Atiz says the BookSnap uses “a unique auto-centering feature, which eliminates ‘margin crawl’ issues that are common with typical scanners.” What we’d really like to see though is something which also flips the pages automatically so we don’t have to sit there like a monkey. It should be available now.
