Your personal Pac-Man machine

Tabletop Pac-Man arcade game for homeNow that you’re all grown up and have that big paycheck to buy all the things that you wanted from your childhood the Brookstone people are hoping to entice you to part with $1,995 dollars for their tabletop Pac-Man arcade game. The game’s ROM is the same as the classic coin op from the 1980s right down to the sound effects, graphics and tricks that you could make if you were a Pac-Man champ. To further sweeten the impulse buy the arcade game also comes with the authentic versions of Galaga and Ms. Pac-Man. Now that $1,995 price tag doesn’t seem so crazy anymore, does it?

What also makes the whole package appealing for your rec room is the side art which recreates the look of an actual Pac-Man arcade game, the red joystick and the fact that it doesn’t eat up that much space (dimensions are a reasonable 16″ w x 15″ d x 25″ h). Still, two Gs is a lot to drop on three classic arcade games, for that price you could grab a Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 and still have change left over to pick up some games. Maybe it comes down to a coin flip? Heads yes, tails maybe.

total rip off. you can buy a game which has all those classic games on it for CHEAP… and play it on a nice size television screen, rather than filling your house up with this crap.

sorry, someones just trying to make a quick buck with this crap.

Actually, the cheap ones in the stores don’t record high scores. And they’re slightly different versions too. The only way to play the exact games from the 80’s is to buy a machine like this, or build your own. To build your own is expensive and time-consuming, but if done right, you can play the entire library of classic games.
