Voyager 855 headset gives you flexibility |
Plantronics unveiled today what it is calling the first mono to stereo convertible Bluetooth headset with noise reduction technology. The Plantronics Voyager 855 will be priced at around $150 and should be available in October.
The Plantronics Voyager 855 is a lightweight stereo headset designed to be paired with Bluetooth enabled music mobile phones. It is customizable for stereo or mono use and has a detachable stereo cable so users can determine their wearing style. Technology in the headset lets you know when a call comes in so you can switch over from music. The earbuds are foam-filled for noise management and backed by DSP technology for further background noise elimination.
Also part of the Voyager 855 is a slide to talk boom which you can talk into and, when slid back, ends the call so music can resume. That’s pretty cool as long as the boom doesn’t jam somehow, which might not actually be such a bad thing if you live in a handsfree driving state and don’t want to take a call from the boss. You can just blame the hardware.

It is not a true mono signal when you remove the opposite ear piece. It becomes a right channel’s signal only which is half of the stereo’s information — the minus the left channel’s signal. I also only get 5 hours of continuos use not the 6 or the 7 hours that is advertised.
