Virgin Mobile gets first Bluetooth handset…finally

Virgin Super SliceLittle Virgin Mobile USA is teaming with handset supplier UTStarcom Personal Communications to deliver its first Bluetooth-enabled handset. The Super Slice is priced at around $60 and should be available this month.

The Virgin Super Slice is a thin, .04-inch candy-bar style mobile. It’s got a VGA camera with 3x zoom, up to 270 minutes of talk time, a weight of 2.5 ounces and a built-in speaker phone. It also sports a new user interface compared to previous Virgin Mobile units.

It’s a little scary that Virgin is proud of the fact this is its first Bluetooth-enabled model. I guess that explains why I never see anyone carrying around one of Virgin’s phones – way behind the times.
