Virgin Mobile gets first Bluetooth handset…finally

Posted in Bluetooth, Mobile Phones, Virgin by Nino Marchetti on September 7th, 2007

Virgin Super SliceLittle Virgin Mobile USA is teaming with handset supplier UTStarcom Personal Communications to deliver its first Bluetooth-enabled handset. The Super Slice is priced at around $60 and should be available this month.

The Virgin Super Slice is a thin, .04-inch candy-bar style mobile. It’s got a VGA camera with 3x zoom, up to 270 minutes of talk time, a weight of 2.5 ounces and a built-in speaker phone. It also sports a new user interface compared to previous Virgin Mobile units.

It’s a little scary that Virgin is proud of the fact this is its first Bluetooth-enabled model. I guess that explains why I never see anyone carrying around one of Virgin’s phones - way behind the times.
