PSP 3.7 Firmware Update Available |
Sony has released a new firmware update available now for the PSP, bringing the version up to 3.7. The new update can be picked up automatically through the Network Update Wi-Fi connection on the PSP.
Some of the updates with the new 3.7 version include revisions to increase security and an increased number of Playstation network titles that can be played under “Game”. The system will now also let users set custom theme settings in the Themes menu and a number of features for viewing media have been added.
When viewing a movie, along with the other controls for play, pause, fwd, etc, there is now a Scene Search which displays scenes throughout the movie at about 60 second increments, allowing the selection of the scene by viewing a still image of it. The game console will also now support sequential playback of movies under the Video menu, and will allow you to view pictures and listen to music at the same time. Prior to the update only one or the other of these could be done at a time. For gaming Sony has now added the ability to assign buttons to the PSP for Remote Play.
The new version does not appear to be available quite yet through Sony’s Playstation web site but should be available soon as the update is available through the PSP’s Network Update feature.
