Samsung gets official about SGH-F700

Samsung SGH-F700 mobile phone launches with VodafoneAfter first announcing it during February’s 3GSM World Congress, Samsung has unveiled the specs on its SGH-F700 slated for the European marketplace. Partnered with Vodafone as the SGH-F700’s carrier and capable of delivering 3.6 Mbps HSDPA, the top slides open revealing a QWERTY keyboard underneath for your email/surfing needs. The full touch screen is 3.2-inches TFT full color display with 240×432 resolution that can handle full HTML browsing. It supports MP3/MPEG4AAC(+)/eAAC+//H.263/H.264 files, is Bluetooth 2.0 compatible, has microSD and USB slots and a 3 megapixel camera.

Samsung is emphasizing its new award-winning user interface with the F700. Called “Croix” (that’s French for “cross”), the idea behind it is to allow the user to use the touch screen to completely control the unit. The company states that this allows greater “usability in terms of input methods, basic navigation, content access methods and task completion scenarios,” but just by taking a look at it you can see that the Samsung designers were influenced by Apple’s iPhone UI.

However, if you can use the screen in tandem with the keyboard we can definitely visualize how that should increase your text messaging/email writing/message forum posting speed time. The SGH-700 will arrive on the market sometime next February with price TBA.
